Since when is DRM a reason to a customer? If you mean the developer, then it curtails the used sales market, which is still a reason to them :)

The whole thread made me laugh. I just looked for some people to buy a 4pack together and it turned out to a Steam hate fest. I seriously don't know what's the problem, if you don't like Steam so much, buy it directly from the developer. You will not get Torchlight 1 and Mac version but you'll get access to the Neverwinter beta.

Because people have strong feelings about Steam. From what I understand those that hate Steam can buy through Aperfect world and won't be able to add the game to Steam at all. But, I think the issue of DRM on that side is somewhat unknown.

I would, but I already pre-purchased my copy as soon as it became available. Really looking forward to this game.

It's not hate, I don't hate steam I just don't like it and don't want to be forced to use it and when games give me no other choice I feel sad.

Not really, in most places where one is going to play this game it's either illegal or subject to civil suit if you're caught doing it. It doesn't matter if Valve goes out of business or otherwise takes your games.

If they don't give a shit that's a pretty clear indication that they don't understand the situation. I doubt very much that in the case that Valve does go bankrupt that they'd still not care about the risk.

You really think anyone is going to care if you download abandonware 20 years from now when the publisher is dead? No. DRM on PC is irrelevant.

I wouldn't say that. Whether you and I agree or not a lot of people don't care about game preservation. They don't think Valve will be gone anytime soon and they don't worry about playing these games 20 years from now. Or maybe they just don't care that much about games and use them as a casual diversion, which is healthy.

Or like me they know DRM is irrelevant on PC and don't care about it, outside constant connection requirements.

Yes, that's why GOG functions so great, because all your games you bought 20 years ago on disc DRM-free function so great.

Even without Steam there was always the question about longevity of games.
You'll have more issues with operating system changes or new hardware than with Steam going out of business soon.

This. I can't care less if Steam is gone. I bought the game, played it, it is highly unlikely I'll get back to it any time soon anyway. And in 10 years I won't be able to run it anyway.

I pre ordered Diablo 3, but thinking now i might get TL2 and maybe get Mass effect 3. I can't make up my mind.(big fan of all these games)
