nijuu: Interesting.
Wish Gog would get both Torchlight 1 & 2 at some point :).Would be awesome.
I would actually not be all that shocked to see TL and TL2 show up on GOG on TL2's release day.

Just as long as they don't show up in a Humble Indie Bundle the same day. =P
From what the FAQ states, the system reqs are going to be very similar to Torchlight. Apparently Runic's coders are fond of extreme optimization. That's awesome, because I loved the original TL's netbook mode; it's made gaming on my GMA 950 quite pleasant.

On that same vein I wish someone could tell me why a game which needs a 64 MB GMA 950 on the Windows side needs a 256 MB Radeon X1600 on the Mac (I'm currently playing it on my GMA 950 MacBook using CrossOver 11).

Dolantin: Torchlight had one big fault.
The monsters levelled at the same time, like you levelled and you had never the illusion that you became stronger. But that illusion is what Hack&slashs are about, aren't they?
Isn't that how it should be? I thought Diablo II worked the same way, unless I'm missing something. I'm pretty sure that was how it worked with Fate (and Torchlight is essentially Fate 2).

Oh yeah, and I just saw that pet intro video for the poodle. Is it just me, or did Runic just stick a Chocobo from FF into Torchlight?

StingingVelvet: Not sure why anyone would call Diablo 3 a better deal at this point.

KavazovAngel: Your local Blizzard fanboy called Angel Kavazov would. :p

But would also get Torchlight 2 too.

Just like I don't care about MW vs BF, so do I not care about D3 vs Torchlight. Getting both games would give you the best gaming experience.
Well said.
Cookie for you, And I want you to join me in my party when D3 comes out,
So far i got 1 gogger.

If you're speaking of Papillon, that's their office pet (pet's name is Falcor I think).

*tries to work out how a chocobo and papillon are in any way similar*

I think he means the - er - unique creation creature they put in, which is a magical ground bird thingy

that said choosing a pet will be hard; I'm torn between the lethal deadlyness of a panther and a ferret with goggles!

Nothing to think about, dual wielding ferrets Codo and Podo.
Well its a no brainer here going for T2 over D3. Nice price point and if it plays as good as the original i will love the game.
Bit disappointed they have no plans for an XBLA version - was looking for a co-op RPG to play on gaming nights with my mate, and this would have fitted the bill perfectly...

Many (NOT all) games that are designed to be console to pc or pc to console ports tend to --- end up failing in at least one if not both mediums. Normally this is because they start life as being made mostly for one and then get a quick chop and change for the other (normally its console to PC as opposed to the reverse).

Asides hack and slash on consoles should be infinity easier to get hold of than on the pc

It'll be as randomized as ever but the overworld will have a Diablo 2 feel so you'll have that always forward momentum going with deep dungeons to explorer.. its what T1 was missing, it felt so confined but now with the addition of overworlds tossed in the mix this should be the end all game... new classes look amazing, and i cant wait to see the modders go to town!

I might suggest Crimson Alliance to Crispy78, but TL eventually came to XBLA and I purchased it on sale (I think I paid 5 USD/400 points) and played through it on Hard Mode. Now, I admit I chose the cheese class, Alchemist, who makes the Death Star have issues with self worth around level 18 or so (though, honestly, all the classes eventually get some uber skill), but honestly, it plays great. The only issue is you miss out on the excellent editor and mod scene. They did do the port 18-24 months after TL launched, though.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't see any reason other than "time" (which they clearly don't have) that TL2 couldn't land on XBLA day 1.

Actually, I think he's talking about the Basilisk pet, now that I think more about it, they changed the name to something else in TL2, he was a late addition to TL (seriously these guys patched in a lot of fun stuff, including the ferret and basilisk pets).

Considering the improved graphics, what are the chances that it will run as well as the first game on shitty (ie my Intel 4500mhd) systems?
First Torchlight had no freaking stand to Diablo 2. I can't see how T2 could be a rival to D3.

Somebody would say it's Diablo 3 for poor :P

But I'll buy it anyway, cause I don't give a damn about diablo? :D
