Man, bought it and I've been gone for 2 hours and still have 25 minutes left on the download. Speed's averaging 60 KB/sec. I know there's going to be launch hiccups, but they had to know that they would get swamped pretty badly with downloads. Back to Borderlands 2 for the time being.

The GG page still says steamworks on it.

On a happy note, PWE got me a key only an hour and a half late and responded to the support request after only a couple hours after the game went live. So I'm guessing they've made some improvements over what the forum posts were suggesting.

I'm still a little annoyed because of the timing of it, Midnight like these releases usually are would have resulted in a 16:00 download so I could have downloaded it before I went to bed last night.

I was hoping to try to buy the game directly from Runic, but it seems their servers have melted. Guys, the launch of a game is the single most important day in the entire life of the game. Not being properly prepared for it can undo a lot of the hard work you did leading up to the launch. I thought the guys at Runic were supposed to be industry veterans- I'm a bit surprised to see such amateur mistakes from them.

I hated Torchlight 1. Got bored to tears after a while.

Torchlight 2, on the other hand, is boss.

I'm an act and a bit in and what I'm about to say is gonna draw some hate from Blizz fans but.. T2 just kicked D3 outta the park then went and stole it's girlfriend... It's the game D3 should have been...

Just started playing and already seems like they made some nice changes from the open beta. Being able to see the bonuses you'll get when a skill reaches certain levels is very nice- really helps with the character planning.

I'm still waiting for it to redownload, for some reason the patch wasn't installing. But, yeah, from what I saw of the open weekend, it looks and feels the way that a Diablo game should. Just with somewhat cartoonier graphics.

But, that shouldn't be surprising given that they have people who had previously worked on Diablo games and I don't think that Blizzard does. One of the drawbacks in waiting way too long to release a sequel is you lose the talent that made the previous game work.

That being said, I think TL was better than D2, other than it being just one long dungeon like D was.

Gah! I don't want to deal with Steam/Securom. It's a rarity for me but I'm actually considering going a-plundering on the digital high seas... and hoping T2 may eventually show up here so I can pay them then. *grumbles*

U know u can buy it from PW or runic themselves as both versions dont use Steam. As for DRM its just putting a key to convert from demo to full version and linking it to your runic account for multiplayer hook up.

But isn't there an activation limit (my most detested form of DRM)? I know they did have that on the version of the first Torchlight they sold themselves, and as far as I can recall this may be also the case with part 2.

Hmm, I'll have to ask about that, but the only reason why there was an activation limit on the original was so that they could have a demo that would unlock rather than forcing people to download another copy of the game. AFAIK they always gave additional activations for those that asked provided they were installing it on their own machines. I think even without that they gave a pretty large number of activations.

Although that's likely to be more of an issue with TL2 than with the original just because of the replay value.
