Perfect timing for me, the 21st is the start of a three day national holiday, and 24th is also a national holiday for different reasons. 4 days of awesome.
Yet no GOG release. *le sigh* I guess I'll just wait and see whether it's going to pop up here eventually. I've got more than enough other games to keep me occupied.

cw8: 1 day before Borderland 2 releases? Ugh y?
2 Days after, which I think is, even crazier.

Same here. I would of thought Gog coulda made this one of the exceptions to the general pricing structure (as they did for a few other new release games)

orcishgamer: That's more transparency than you'll ever get out of mainstream development, only indies and Kickstarter projects give that much detail.
Depends on the games... usually those with competitive multiplayer are a lot more talked about.

Aaaanyways, I think the release date is way too close to other games (Borderlands 2, MoP). They should have released it in August.
It seems like there's a lot riding on this game, for the developer and for gamers. If people find it a worthy alternative to Diablo 3, that could bode well for all parties.

It really wouldn't surprise me if people played Borderlands 2, for 2 days, and then put it away to play Torchlight 2. I didn't play Borderlands for much more than 2 days before shelving it. I completed it once and never went back. The thought of playing it all over again (and again) for some more random guns and higher numbers appearing when I use the same skills wasn't all that exciting.

I have seen Guild Wars 2 touted as a release killer too. I have no interest in Guild Wars 2, it looks about as exciting as Peter Molyneux’s 'Curiosity'. As for MoP, I've never played WoW, at all, so maybe the significance of playing it all over again as a Panda is lost on me.

'Should have' released in August seems a bit of a silly comment. Its not finished. The beta only consisted of a rough cut of the first of four acts, and the feedback from it triggered big changes. They are still polishing the final two acts and multiplayer.

Its priced so damned attractively that I can't see it struggling to make sales even as someone's 'side order'. They only have to give it a little try before they forget about Guild Blanderlands 2 or whatever it was...

Yea, I understand, but still they should have done a better job, and frozen the build at some earlier point. Business reasons, who knows, maybe the delay will pay off better.

It looks like a Steam exclusive to me. I don't even think you can buy it from Runic themselves without Steam. So Steam wins again and the monopoly continues to grow. Maybe GOG will get it in a year or so, who knows what contract Steam wrangled from them. Still the first one is awesome enough and this Inquisitor game coming here looks sweet too. :)
EDIT: Thanks to kaileena,(read below) I have discovered that it's not Steam exclusive. Excellent! :-D

I'm glad they didn't. Its refreshing to see a developer willing to get the game right more than the release date right.

The not a blog developer posts are quite insightful and really make it clear how invested they are in their game. I played Torchlight early it its life cycle before mods had taken off. I only really tried mods when returning to the game in anticipation of the sequel. Its amazing to see the ideas from great Torchlight (1) mods evolving into full game features of Torchlight 2. The series has some dedicated and talented fans.

Well, maybe they erred but in my PC Gamer magazine from September 2012 they say that the publisher of Torchlight 2 is Steam. So much to my disappointment , I don't think it's sold anywhere else. Would love to see it here. Maybe we will in time. Of course maybe I'm mistaken, so don't loose all hope tarangwydion. :)
However, just looked at Runic's homesite and they say it will launch as a digital download from different places including their site, now the Gamersgate version says Steam, but, maybe they won't all be. They don't specify that I can see. Maybe I'm completely wrong, in which case I appologize...But if Steam is truly the publisher, wouldn't it be Steam only? :(
EDIT: Maybe I am wrong, which sends a shiver of excitement down my back, since I found here:
http://www.torchlightuniverse.com/
that it will be coming soon to Runic Games after all. :D So Why have a preorder for the Steam version and not one from their own site up first? Seems really odd...but, I'll deal with that if it's not Steam only! :))

No actually its not Steam exclusive, perfect world and runic site sell a non-steam version. Also the physical copy (not in US) is non-steam. And you can pre-order from perfect world (its the only non-steam version pre-order)
My only guess is Steam got an exclusive DD thing fora few month as all other DDs only sell steam version hence no GOG for now
