kalirion: I'm actually pretty sure Diablo 3 is blatantly better than Torchlight 2 for real - aside from (in order of descending importance):

1. Lack of single player (this is the deal breaker for me)
2. Lack of difficulty settings
3. Lack of a quick way to send junk for sale (i.e. Fluffy)

Elenarie: I'm going to troll this whole thread now...

1. Define single player. If you're playing alone, you can pause the game and all that. You just need to have an internet connection.
2. 4 difficulties aren't enough?
3. Don't pick up trash worth 5 gold when you're getting 100 from killing a single monster.
Torchlight 2 retails on stores besides Steam and will likely have at least 1 DRM free (and internet free) option for play.

I can't say much about difficulties in TL2, I know some folks complained about any lack of challenge up until Inferno in D3 but not having played TL2 I can't really compare.

Fluffy can buy more consumables on his way to town, he's not just not just a really cute loot disposer anymore.

I was just trying to troll... :) Haven't played the beta, so don't know how the game is like, thus can't compare the two games.

The retail release will probably be DRM-free.

No problem, I was just trying to "orc" in return;)

1. In real single player you aren't affected by lag, and can pause the game for longer than 10 minutes before being kicked for being "idle." D3's single player is nothing more than soloing.
2. Those aren't difficulty settings, they're "New Game+"s. A difficulty setting is something you can choose for a new character.
3. What about trash worth 100 gold in the same scenario? Doubling your gold isn't something to sneeze at.

I just heard that TL2 got delayed to August?

I'm 90% sure you can idle for pretty much as long as you want in D3 without being kicked.

Nope, I'm not sure if the latest patches have changed anything, but I got kicked out idling on my character solo while I was watching TV for one hour few weeks back. Ever since then I come in to move my character everytime advertisements start on the TV which happens every 10-15mins then reactivate the pause and go back to watch TV.

Either your connection failed, or something else happened. I tested this, leaving the game running for hours (both in the lobby and in-game) while sleeping and when I was not at home. Didn't lose the connection a single time.

(I actually have the game running nearly all the time, minimized in the background.)

EDIT: I did get the game a few weeks after the release, maybe it was different during the first few weeks.

I on dialup broadband, if my connection failed I would've to redial in. But this happened in later May or early June, so they might've fixed it with patches already.

Err, how does that work? =P Seems like an oxymoron to me.

Definitely looking forward to this game. They can take their time to polish things up.

Wrong term used, it's ADSL broadband :) I have to connect thru Windows PPOE everytime I access the Internet.

That's weird - my DSL modem handles all that PPOE crap for me.
Guys? This is a Torchlight 2 thread.... you Diablo 3 lovers made enough and even restricted (don't mention DRM or else...) threads where you can settle your D3 stuff. So with all due respect and a tip to my hat: GTFO.

Yes I did read about your proclaimed trolling attempt before I wrote it and no, I didn't do it because of you. But believe that you succeeded in trolling and give yourself a pat on your shoulder, I don't care.
