Awesome thanks guys
yeah, it's less of a beta on the game itself and more of a beta on Runic's network. for the most part this beta is the same Demo that Runic let people play at pax and gamescom in 2010.

I like TL2, but at this point I honestly kinda like TL1 a little better, I'm still withholding final judgment till the full game comes out. Sure, TL2 has got a bizzillion times more content and multiplayer, but TL1's combat feels "better" and the old art style is more comfortable to me than the new visuals.

it's kinda funny how much Runic is walking down the same road that they did with Diablo, cause I've got the same opinion when it comes to Diablo 1 vs Diablo 2.

*edit*

I have both TL1 & TL2 installed on my PC, installed size on my hard drive for each is:

Torchlight = 436 MB
Torchlight 2 = 806 MB

as far as downloading it goes, it's about the same size as the installed files since the demo (and it will probably be the same in the full release) is being distributed in a F2P MMO style; you download a small installer / game launcher type program that then downloads and installs the game like it's just a big ass patch.

the installer is only 21 MB in size.

How long did you guy's installers hang at applying patch and 10.20 MB remaining?

Mine has been like it for about 20 mins

edit: known issue

Hm, I was disappointed I haven't got the key and few minutes ago I found I got it yesterday morning but it went into spam folder. :-/ So far I had biggest problem with downloading the instaler. It took me 3 attempts to download it correctly.
I had no problems, but I also started it up and went out for 5 hours.

.... so I really have no idea how long it took, since it was simple done by the time I came back

Be wary if you decide to install the editor for TL, it's about 5 times the size of the actual game. I imagine the TL2 editor will be the same.
Dammit, why didn't I check my email last night???? Seems I got into the TL2 beta stress test... could've downloaded the game overnight but now I probably won't have time to both download and play... :(

It actually ends on Tuesday, apparently, so you should have a bit.

I'll only have a couple hours tonight and tomorrow evening to play at this rate....

That kind of sucks. :/ Better than nothing though, I guess. You progress pretty quickly, at least.

The beta takes total 3.52hrs from start to end with 1 char... so it's not hard to finish :)
really fun and fast paced. Enjoyed the beta alot, no question in my mind now that i like this more than d3.

it's only the first act, you should me able to finish it.
Got into the stress test for this weekend and as soon as I could got some money together and pre-ordered. TL 2 has the same charm as TL 1 with many more nifty things. The over world map with multiple towns is a great addition, I also love how pets can now buy potions and whatnot for you when you send them to sell loot [Though I still swear that little bugger is holding back when he returns ;)]

Diablo 3 is a good game [not an exceptional game or a great game, a good game] in my opinion, TL 2 has the potential to be a great game. The best part of it is that they both can live together in harmony because they strive for different things. I know I will play both at the same time [no question] because Diablo is there for the world [I have loved the Diablo univers since I first played Diablo 1] and Torchlight is there for just some random mayhem and questing.
