Yeah, the timing on this one sucks for me as well. The internet was down the last couple days which means that a lot of the time I would be playing I'll have to be working instead.
Finally got access to the beta.
And 2hours 28 minutes later.Lvl 10 Outlander:). Awesome game. Definite pre order/buy for me ....

Played for about 45-60 minutes this morning and I have to say I'm impressed. I found the original Torchlight to be entertaining, but I also felt like it got boring quickly, whereas 2 seems to have a bit more variety instead of just being a straight dungeon crawl. I've only played single player so far and have been mainly having fun playing around with the Mage's various spells. Probably won't predorder/day one purchase because I don't have the money, but I'll definitely pick it up some time.

The controls still annoy me a little though. Wouldn't it make more sense to move with WASD and attack with mouse so I don't accidentally barrel into the frey when trying to click on a quick enemy?

OK, I've only played for around 20 minutes and while it's enjoyable I find it to be under Diablo 3, especially because it's so hard to actually select an enemy to shoot at (playing a ranged class). This leads to either mis-clicking and moving instead of attacking or using the shift key to stay in place and not being in range.

Overall the style is nice and the game feels fun, but I'll wait for a sale first because Diablo 3 will keep me playing for a long time and second, because though fun, the little things (like the aformentioned shooting, or the highlight for objects with which you can interact with) managed to annoy me in the first 10 minutes of the game, which means that either I manage to get over them or play the game for a couple of hours and then stop
If had to choose between the two I'd probably go for D3 as well, except for that stupid always online DRM crap. That makes me never ever want to buy it. I'll probably try out the demo when it comes out, though. If it turns out to be pure genius then I'll maaaaaybe overlook the stupidity. Maybe.

I'm sold on the game. I had as much fun playing this as Diablo 3. Plus I have read its going to be around 25h to finish. I just need to find some people to play with.
Feels very like Diablo 2, with the announcement of skills being arranged into trees it will even function as it.

Another interesting thing is how fast paced the game is, D3 movement feels like a snail now compared to T2.
I've had it pre-ordered since the week after they opened it up.

would have been THE week but I was a little short on cash.
Bit lazy this morning, but whats the release date for this game atm?.

Must agree with most of the comments about T2. Definitely faster paced and more enjoyable than D3 (connection issues aside)
As I've said before, I'm quite impressed the game. Seems like a huge step up over the first and nice to see that it's generally considered as good as if not better than D3. Time to start saving some money! :D

So, what's everyone's favorite class? I've only done single player, but I like the Mage a lot. The spells are versatile and a lot of fun, and it's extremely satisfying hitting people in the face with the staff. Also, the passive that makes enemies teleport away and take damage when they hit you is entertaining.

AndrewC: Blah
I didn't have any problem hitting guys, though I haven't played the released Diablo 3 so maybe it is just that much better,

Anyway, keep in mind it is still beta while Diablo 3 is released, that targeting issue may be fixed by then. Also, if you hold ctrl you wont move if you misclick, but if you click on an enemy and are out of range you will move within range. The unfortunate side effect of that though is that if you don't click on the guy you don't shoot, whereas with hold shift you will.

I've had trouble hitting the enemies as well at times. Also, one of the enemies pushed me through a wall.

But, this is still beta software, although I would hope that would have been fixed by now seeing as they're planning on releasing the game this summer.

In general it's a nice game, I can't wait to see how the singleplayer plays, those load screens are getting annoying.
