nijuu: Pre order is up for Steam and also through Perfect World.Question is, is there a DRM free version through Runic or not?. I cant seem to find the answer in the FAQ or search in there forum despite the usual 'search the forum' 'DRM' comes up with nothing. Anyone enlightened?. Gog not getting it?

Sounds like the base game will be drm-free but the patches wont be.

Sounds like the same model that GOG used with the Witcher 2 until they removed the requirement for authentication to download patches.

Gersen: There is no DRM-free version of Torchlight 1 (not anymore at least IRC the very first version was), the one you buy through their website has a custom online activation.
All boxed copies came without DRM and still likely do.

Anyone in the US considering getting the 4 copy deal on steam? I need 2 keys and the US is 2-3 quid a copy cheaper than here...

Dunno, I just called up Best Buy, "Do you have copies?", "Yes." And I drove to pick one up. The local Target didn't have a copy but that's hardly surprising.

Any statement more official than a random guess by an equally random forum user?
So how is everyone going to get this?

Most probably retail. I should pick up a disc copy of the first game too, only have a Steam copy at the moment.

I'll be buying from Runic, if I have to accept DRM at least it'll be from them. If they offer a DRM free version I'll buy that instead, even if it means less money in their pockets. I understand why they used activation the last time, they wanted people playing the demo to simply "unlock" their game and keep playing. It's an awesome idea really, but there should be a DRM free option for those willing to do the extra downloading.

If there's a boxed copy coming out later on it'll probably be sans DRM, but I haven't heard a thing about boxed this time around...
Hurray for female characters with pants!!!

This has to be an industry first, i don't know how they are not using that as a selling point. One of the uniques should be "Golden Pantaloons". Just 'cause.
