This game is officially great. I don't care about the DRM or having to get it on Steam, this is pure gaming gold. I love the cartoonish graphics and the Diablo-themed music.
It is a great game, but I kind of preferred the Flagship's version of Mythos beta. (Well, they are basically the same game, even though they don't have even a piece of the same code...)
Anyway, Runic (ex Flagship) gained alot of good ideas while making Mythos, so why waste them even though they lost the rights to Mythos. Most things in Torchlight from the skill trees to the gameplay elements are almost the same. I'm not complaining, I actually love it. I just liked the multiplayer element from Mythos.

Agreed. Just played the demo and purchased it through Steam 12 minutes later. The music alone convinced me to pony up the very reasonable asking price of 20 bucks.
Nice to see the netbook option in the Settings.. can't wait to try it out on my Aspire One (upgraded the sucker to 2 gigs of RAM recently).
As for all this DRM talk, wait for the boxed copy if you want none at all as has been mentioned by some developers on the linked threads in these posts. Personally I have been using Steam for years and have had a grand total of 1 problem/issue: once it took like 15 minutes for the program to realize i didn't have net access, and needed to switch to Offline Mode. Fifteen minutes of annoyance in years of use. Just my personal experience. I've "purchased access to" a total of 60 games (mostly thanks to promo bundles like the id Software pack, Half-Life Collection, etc) from their service, and it works exactly as advertised. Satisfied customer.

Fenixp: Well, after playing this for quite a bit I can say its fun, but skills are mostly kinda uninteresting and you get way too much skill points to spend. Right now, Im waltzing trough the game with vanquisher on hard and its way easy - bow with 511 DPS might have something to do with that. Combining it with her explosive arrow (dunno how the skill is called) allowes me to instakill pretty much everything. Levels are comming too fast, as well as those... Reputation upgrades and game gets rather dull after a while.

You should try on very hard. It was like normal difficulty to me.

Not everyone's going to have problems, or even the majority. If that was the case, there would be no debate about Steam's quality of service. Well, there wouldn't be a Steam at all.

Well yes, but beginning was just too damn hard for my build (Id kill for possibility to change diff while playing), I mean: from second level of caverns, I was constantly dying. Not too much fun either. What I had in mind was rather unbalanced difficulty (if the game was as hard as in the beginning on "hard", I would be happy)
Also, dont say a word again about steam, or itll start all over again... There may be great community in here, but when it comes to DRM, its horrible...

Hm, I've seen mostly civil discussions.
I was trying to bring some diplomacy to the table but I'll shut up. :)

They ARE civil, that is not the problem... Problem is that when I have looked at 3 topic about games in a row, in every single one bunch of people were talking about how evil Steam is, or DRM is, the same thing over and over again. After all, that IS the reason I have created this, I want to discuss games in discussions about them, not their copy protection.
Oh well, THIS is thread derailing as well, so lets stop it either :D
When the hell is TorchED coming out? It's always being delayed.

The game was released 5 days ago man.. I don't think the word `always' is warranted yet =D
It'll come out when it's ready. Give them some time to recover from the initial release at least =)

Smartass.
I dunno, I'm probably just jealous that some people have the editor and are making mods already.
I'm hoping somebody makes a mod like this.
I'll probably start my next game on Very Hard. Hard is still pretty easy for my 'lore spec' Alchemist. Of course, on top of those gloves I linked I found some ring that boosts minion damage/health by a further 10% -- of course I'm not sure how or if all of those percentages stack but I basically just summon three or four imps, a golem, and five skeletons and run around until they destroy everything.

I'm planning to do a deep dive when I get the game: start the first playthrough on hardcore very hard and see how far I get. Seems like fun =D
For some unexplained reason, I started a new character in Normal (last time I created one in Easy) and Normal felt a lot easier than Easy was.
