Then just get the Steam version. No activation limits, no SecuROM, just the Steam DRM itself.
And I will personally lynch anyone who says Steam is a rental service. I thought we had gotten over that by now.

Titans Quest: Immortal Throne has not had DRM in years... just get a boxed copy and use the latest fan patch. Also no DRM means unlimited LAN/Hamachi play. Boxed editions of Original and Expansion are cheaper then online distro's.
You'd be missing out on the greatest game since Diablo 2 and doing a large disservice to yourself not to play TQ:IM
Faithful your friend says may, and he works there... and all online distros of torchlight aside from Steam will have activations. And to clearify i already listed every DRM Torchlight will have on page 1.
IF your upset download the editor FREE play around and buy the retail copy which will have no activation limits.

You sure you can do that? I was under the impression Preditor would require game assets that you would pay for in the game.

How many times does it need to be said? GamersGate ignores activation limits. They will always issue you new activations if you do ever run out -- which is why if a game uses TAGES or any other DRM where the publisher will make it difficult to get activations back, you should always buy it from GamersGate when possible.
And quite simply, people bitch far too much about SecuROM. It's not the evil rootkit most try to make it sound like. And no one has ever managed to provide any substantial evidence to back up such claims.

I don't know who told you that, but I bought Titan Quest Gold on Gamersgate and it doesn't have any DRM.

Just got an email from Gamersgate about DRM on their version of Torchlight. Here's my question:
"I'm very interested in Torchlight, but do you know already what kind of DRM will be used in it? I've heard that the version to be sold directly by Runic Games on their website will just have a serial key activation (like Mount & Blade). Will that be the case with Gamersgate version? If not, what DRM will be used?"
And their answer:
"They have not told us that yet, but my guess is SecuRom. It is up to the developer. I assume we get the same they are using on the disc version."
And I think it comes from the very same person that answered your email.

I would simply ask you not jump to baseless conclusions, since what I wrote was based on what I received from gamersgate.
TL will have DRM and it looks like it will be limited activations, and they still (as far as I know) have not answered if the boxed edition will have DRM or not.
If you can show me unequivocally where TL will not carry DRM please do so.

I think the Runic guys said that the boxed version will have a serial only, no DRM, and that all digital downloads (except Steam, which uses Steam DRM only) will have limited unlocks. That's basically it. I can't remember where exactly I read that, but it's probably one of the many DRM-related posts on the Runic forums.

I have read. If you can link me to posts where it says in no uncertain terms what the DRM is going to be, how many unlocks, who has the unlocks, who does not have the unlocks, and what the boxed version of the DRM is certain to be, it would great.
I have asked on the Runic website about the DRM and have not gotten one response. I have gotten more here than on the official site.
As far as I can see, Runic has not been clear, or forthright with this information toward its users. If I am wrong, please correct me and I will acknowledge it.

Seriously Faithful, give it a rest now. Several of us have already stated all there is to know about the DRM for this game already. If you still aren't happy then ask the developers yourself. And if you're still that scared over a little bit of DRM then don't buy the game. Simply really.

Seriously, I had given it a rest until what I posted was called BS, and also another post that inferred I must have not read the posts clarifying Runic's DRM.
I have asked the developers myself in this thread and they never once responded and what you call a "little bit of DRM" in the form of limited installs for a $20.00 is something I will most certainly pass on, as I mentioned above.
