Faithful: I have not bought a DRM burdened game or paid $30-40 bucks for a game in the last few months.

Really, between b&m store close-outs, freeware and digital download store sales, I haven't paid more than $10 for a brand new pc game in at least six months!
Although some of those games did have DRM, it was nothing too horrifying. Anything with terrible DRM either doesn't get purchased or I get the Xbox 360 version of it.
Torchlight will be available for digital download on October 27th through http://www.torchlightgame.com and our partner sites:
* Perfect World – available for pre-order!
* Steam – available for pre-order!
* GamersGate – available for pre-order!
* Encore
* Gameware.at
* WildTangent
* Direct2Drive
“Runic Games feels fortunate to have the leading partners in our industry offering Torchlight. Together they give our gamers a great list of reliable, excellent sellers in which they can have total confidence,” says CEO and de-facto Mayor of Torchlight Max Schaefer.

Thought you all might like to know where to get it :)

Already preordered mine from Gamersgate. =D
I'm getting it directly from torchlightgame.com (hence directly from Runic Games) on release day.

Good man.
Since Torchlight and Titan Quest have been mentioned in this thread, I inquired about the DRM from GamersGate and I was told that both carry DRM.
Torchlight I was informed has Securom on it and the person told me they thought TQ had TAGES.
I think I will pass on both.
TQ doesn't use Tages. It IS DRM free.
I'm interested and i'll try the demo but the 10 unlocks limit makes it a no go for me when it comes to getting it directly from Runic...

I don't know who you talked to, but the GamersGate Titan Quest has no DRM, says so right there on the page.
Can we stop the baseless FUD now please? If you've got anything else you want to add to the discussion make sure it isn't BS first.

Concurred. DRM is not something you throw around in discussions, winning you arguments.
Anyway, Wild Tangent sells games? Weren't those guys doing spyware or something?

Well, they "sell" games. It's still that stupid "pay tokens to play games" crap. Only for children and the ignorant.

Sounds a bit like the forecasted payment methods for the Torchlight MMO...

Sounds like the payment methods for almost every single MMO known to man.
Anyway micropayments for nonessentials != Tokens to play the actual game. Or did you miss the "Free to play" part?
I think WildTangent has a permanent buy option al-la MS Points, but WildTangent is...WildTangent. Better, less retarded outlets exist.

They sell games outright too, much in the same way that credits work on Bigfish. The "spend coins to play per session" model is just one option for renting games per session, if you want to actually buy the games outright, you can do so.
Mind you, I only ever used them to get FATE as I couldn't get it by any other means.

I am not throwing DRM around but relaying what I was told by someone that works at GG.
I am not going to post the person's name online, but here is a screen of the mail sent to me.
The fact remains TL has limited activations and I cannot imagine much worse DRM for a user to buy off on as acceptable.
