Oh I'm sorry, did you mean Tourchlight?
Never mind, they finally fixed their speeling erors.

The game is being distributed as a full version demo. About 300-500megs download unpacked/installed to 700mb.
Once you download you can play the demo and if you desire you can unlock it around 10 times (aka buy it unlock it and can reinstall 9 more times) or try the demo and then buy it on steam or wait for retail in January sometime for minimal DRM version AKA the serial.

I'm assuming that the 10 unlock extensions will be on a case by case basis, like you just shoot off an email to Runic and they'll fix that?
If you're worried about running out of unlock codes, you could always just buy from GamersGate as they simply ignore such limits -- you ever run out, email GamersGate's support and they'll give you a new key, pretty much with no questions asked.
And if that still bothers you, you'll just have to wait until next year to see if the retail version really will be 100% DRM free.
Personally, I'll probably buy from GamersGate as the game will almost certainly be released before Valve unlock it on Steam and the Steam version is more likely to be offered for some very silly percentage off in a weekend deal later down the line (so if there's a need to get the Steam version I can get it then, ensuring Valve get less profit =)).

What? I thought the game will be released at the same time on all DD outlets, as well as Runic's site?

Same day, sure. But GamersGate tend to release at midnight (well, 4pm my time which I expect is midnight in Valve's time zone) while Valve won't release before 10 AM their time (at the very earliest), so you're almost always guaranteed to get access to a game on any of the other DD services before Steam.
It's just one of those things that I've noticed with recent game releases that are released on the same day over a number of DD services, Steam is always last to unlock.

Well, it's only different by a few hours, so it doesn't matter too much. I have it on Steam anyway, but I just don't see what's the big fuss over unlocks if it's only going to be out at the same day. But that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it.
A difference of 10 hours is pretty important when Valve unlock games at past 3am my time. I get to pretty much play the day before =) As it is, Steam lists Torchlight as unlocking on the 28th (which will be the 29th in my Timezone), GamersGate list it as the 27th (which will be the 28th in my timezone).
This is why I don't jump on Steam pre-orders the second they appear. And given that this game is only around 300 or so megs in size, the slower download speed on GamersGate isn't a big issue =) So I should be playing the game for a good few hours while a lot of people on a bitching on the Steam forums about the game not unlocking =P

What's up with that? I get like 140-200kbps its frustrating. 400kbps is a slow day on steam for me. Sucks cause I have a few games waiting to get from GG and not the patience to get em.
The game by game downloader is shit too, I have to manually copy/move the temporary files or they delete their damn selves if I stop the download. Everytime I want to do something I have to pause, manually copy/move temp file folder and then stop. I will shit bricks If I accidentally hit stop immediately or loose connection and the folder auto deletes with a few gigs in the tank.

Yes and Email or PM in forums will work fine.
Wait. Steam version of the game too has the same annoying unlock system? If so they lost a sale.

Geez, so many bitchers in this thread, all of whom have probably purchased a least one $30-$40 DRM'd game in the last 2 months.

there are also so many people willing to accept anything thrown at them for the sake of potential enjoyment, including limited activations.
I have not bought a DRM burdened game or paid $30-40 bucks for a game in the last few months.
