game works flawlessly. you fail not the game :)

Tantrix: Are you playing it with low specs? I found out that the game theoretacly does work flawlessly if you turn down every graphic option. JUst tried that out. Works better now.

just checked and everything is almost maxed out. See the pic. It takes few seconds for textures to load when the game starts. few i mean 2-5 seconds.
Using FRAPS which i was told slow down game. I get average 30 FPS and never lower than 22 or so. just tried eden speed run. For me it is perfect.
game also crashed once or twice maybe.
there must be some problem with your system. driver issues? other games work without problems? did reinstalling game helped? Oh. do you have physx off? it seems it hogs a lot of power

I think I might as well get it over with and add the new XCOM to the list.

Don't forget the inevitable sequels.

Yeah, true. Although I don't know if I'll still be disappointed by then. It will be a bit like the old days of hearing of further DNF delays. At least there's still hope for Syndicate.
Oblivion
Portal
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Disappointments all, especially after the *massive* hype.

I dunno, my driver is pretty new. And ME happens to be the only game which crashes on my computer.

Shure: Oblivion
Portal
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Disappointments all, especially after the *massive* hype.

Thief: Deadly Shadows - you are right there. It had its good parts, but overall it was lacking the majesty that was thief and thief2.
Oblivion and Portal - I liked them both a lot
oblivion allowed modding therefore I cannot be disappointed, plus I put a lot of time into even the vanilla game. However, the main quest was rather lacking.
Portal - I was not disappointed by a small superbly polished game that was basically a free-bee in the orange box that I knew nothing about before release. But I could see once everyone started talking about it - nothing could live up to the hype.

Heh, in all fairness it was an excuisite little game or atleast I found myself getting really drawn into it especially at the section where you, finally, escape the more rigid confines that Glados had you inhabit. But then the game ended rather abruptly, which was a massive shame! :(
You got the nail on the head though, I'd heard such an awful lot on how amazing a game it was and I did buy into the hype so actually getting to play it felt like a bit of an anticlimax, hence my disappointment with it in the end.
A full blow, feature length sequel sounds rather excellent though. :)

Suiboon: Oblivion
"Plastic" world, npcs are wooden, level system the most idiotic ever seen, monsters scale with your level, dungeons are all look-a-likes. But aside from these things I did play this a lot and there are some good quests in it. The assassin guild quests are pretty good.
Can't really remember anything as big of a failure as Oblivion (with so much missed potential).

Mods remove most of the problems except the NPCs because of the speech.
The auto-scaling was a really bad idea. Fallout 3 handled it a lot better but still - I want, sometimes, to feel like I'm way outclassed. Being level 4 and running into a monster that would take a level 10 character to safely kill it is a thrill - because you probably CAN kill it at level 4 but it just won't be easy to do so. Instead, you only got easy monsters to kill in Oblivion.
The skill system is really bad as well, I agree - at least from what I can remember
Say you start the game with certain stats. You discover your stats are too low to pick good locks so you don't do it but leave locks for later. When you level the game will go "hey you don't pick locks so you won't need this skill!" so you don't get any multipliers while skills you constantly use because they're already good enough get all the multipliers.
Good thing mods fix most of this crap.
You guys can add another vote for Oblivion, the retail release was so underwhelming. On the other hand, the crapload of user created mods made it interesting and fixed a lot of problems. Problems that shouldn't been there in the first place.
Another one was Devil May Cry 3, i bought it because my friends were raving about it, how it was so much better than 2 and it was a huge improvement over the first one and so on. I even bought the "Dante's Awakening" re-release cause it let's you play as Virgil, of course i cheated to unlock the guy but still I can't understand what all the hype was about. It just doesn't "click" with me, i can't feel any empathy with the characters or even care about the story.
And last, but not least, Doom 3, my god that was such a waste of time. I think i played it through only twice. The monster placement was so predictable and the fact that you couldn't use your flashlight and your guns at the same time was retarded. Also, it wasn't "Doom" at all, it was just another generic FPS, and a poor one at that. I was expecting non-stop demon blasting with a kicking soundtrack and fast levels. The good thing is that someone actually remade the original doom episode 1 for doom 3, it's the best mod out there, i wish ID had concentrated more on level design instead of making textures shiny and "wet" looking.

Try this.
Getting your money's worth is guaranteed, I promise.

Man, this sounds good. Maybe now the game won't suck.

The game is really good for an hack and slash game, but that's it. Like RE4 is also one of Capcom's Moddable PC-ports and you can also have your fun with it. Actually, I like this game so much, I hope it will get a GoG approval.

Yes...a game still selling copies and in a bundle set on the PS2 will get a GoG approval....
