phanboy4: I like Another World lots. Also WoW and Mass Effect.
Well, your list certainly got better this time around. Your avatar still needs work though.
These are my 10 faves, in no particular order of greatness:

Civilization Series
SimCity Series
Portal
Panzer General
Warcraft II
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Galactic Civilizations II
Master of Orion II
Alpha Centauri
X-Com (I've only played the original)
Hmm. My opinion hasn't changed much since September 2008, it seems.
I love reading lists like these because different people open me up to games I never knew about and sometimes I come across a new favorite that way. This one for example is almost perfectly aligned with my taste:

chriscamaro.hubpages.com/hub/Best-PC-Games-of-All-Time-The-Awesome

My list is as follows:

SS1
SS2
Homeworld
Deus Ex
Amnesia
Tron 2.0
Descent Freespace
Max Payne
Bioshock
X-BTF
1) Fallout 3
2) Gothic 2
3) Betrayal at Krondor
4) Fallout
5) Age of Empires
6) Gothic
7) Civilization IV Beyond the Sword (with Warlords installed too)
8) Fallout 2
9) Zelda III - A Link to the Past
10) FOUR GAMES TIED FOR FINAL TOP 10 SPOT
10a)The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim
10b) Planescape Torment
10c) The Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind
10d) The Legend of Zelda (the first one or Zelda Classic)

Honorable Mention:

Two Worlds
Civilization III Complete
Lords of the Realm II
OOTP Baseball - (have actually played this more than any other game because it never ends)
The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion
FPS Sports Pro Football 98
Payprus NASCAR Racing 2002 Season

Divine Divinity should be at least honorable mention, but the ending is so over the top difficult I can't include it despite lots of love for the game overall.

ADDED: I should also note, although I suppose this will be heresay here, that while I own both The Witcher and The Witcher 2, I have yet to play either of them. I've heard lots of good things about them, and this site being a part of the company and all, I felt I should mention that in my case they're not there because I haven't played them yet, not because I did and found them wanting.

(It's in Finnish, but you can see the list)

Fix this issue asap. There are some issues, as with all games, but get yourself into the Witcher world. You won't be sorry.

I've only played the first Witcher and all I can say is don't be bothered by the first part of the game. I found that the game has a bit of a slow start, but it gradually picks up some pace towards the latter part of the first quarter of the game or so. Also, in the beginning, make sure you get a bottle of wine the moment the opportunity arises. You'll need it before you go into the walled portion of the city...
It's a fair necro, as the topic is always valid. Looking back it doesn't seem like I contributed a list, but perhaps I missed my name.

Here's mine, I basically have been thinking back about the games I got the most enjoyment out of, rather than a particular appreciation of them:

1) Grim Fandango (surprise everyone).
2) Civilization - version not specified, the concept wins #2
3) Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines
4) Warcraft 3
5) Starcraft
6) Bioshock Infinite (It's that good)
7) Thief 3: Deadly Shadows
8) Jagged Alliance 2
9) Black and White
10) Psychonauts
