Zolgar: Actually no, I was complaining that Oblivion expects you to randomly become a hero even though you're a nobody ex-con who just happened to be put in the wrong cell.
No, Oblivion does not expect anything like that. That's the point.

avatar
Zolgar: It becomes worse because, if you so choose to follow that path and become the Big Damn Hero, you're .. not.
It does never, troughout the entire storyline, tell you that you're the main figure of the story. On the contrary as the matter of fact. And it does all it can to make you feel like a hero, thing is, when looked at the storyline objectively ... you're not. You're just disliking the game so you can dislike it :-P
I kinda agree with Zolgar. When I played Oblivion and encountered the portal for the first time I was only like "why should I go there? Why should I care? I don't..."

Fenixp: *snip*
1) yes, Oblivion expects you to go be the hero. That's the story they wrote, and .. now this may be a silly concept, but last time I checked when video game developers make a game, they expect you to play the game and follow the story- they may have other options.. but if they didn't expect you to play through the story they wouldn't bother writing the thousands of lines of dialogue and code for it.
It does not FORCE YOU you go become the hero (well, the warrior who helps pave the way for the hero :p), but it's still the general expectation that the player will do so.

2) I'm disliking Oblivion because I played it, quite a lot, and the story never got my interest, and the world (without mods) was boring as fuck to roam and do things without following the story. The addition of about 20 mods (give or take) made Oblivion worth playing whilst ignoring the story. Oh, and I also disliked Oblivion because I only like level scaling in Diablo-esque games.

Skyrim, while it may railroad you in to the story more, offers a bit more options for those who wish to ignore the story.

Yeah, and I actually agree with that. I didn't. Same as I didn't care about main storyline in Morrowind. And in Skyrim. Except Skyrim was pounding my head over it.

As has been said several times in here: YMMV

Tiefood: There is.. But its a tedious thing to do.. requires mods and the such..
avatar
Fenixp: It requires one mod. And it's newest version's got a wizard that takes you step by step trough the process. Or you can just use , it's fully automated and updates the graphics completely.
Is that Morrowind Overhaul the same as [url=http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics]this I have tried that one multiple times and all times had bad crashing..

Yep, it is. And a newest version was released recently with a ton of bugfixes, might help.
I could upload some screenshots of the Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Mod. I just installed it. Though it might be a few minutes before i could go on.
Steam is still down D:

.... ya know, if you don't really want to get dicked out of playing your game while waiting for a third party client.

oh, wait ..... it's a motherfucking Steamworks title now too! fuck you bethshittia, you just lowered my expectations of you beyond what I assumed you could do.

Sogi-Ya:
The only way to get Morrowind now is through Steam...?

How low can you go!
I used to be a giant Steam fanboy. I can't stand it now. I still haven't been able to start up Borderlands 2. Going to try again a little later.

Big_McLargeHuge:
I used to like Steam, until I found alternatives, and read about some of their more interesting practices.
Also, quite a few launch titles force me to wait months for patches that will make them playable.
Let's not mention how much required information has to be input in order to make a purchase (one of the reasons why I have never purchased something from their online store).
Here are a few screenshots of the Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Mod. It's a fresh install so i had no saves and only took pictures near the silt striders.

That's amazing. I actually downloaded when it was released just in case I wanted to play but I'm going to keep the name at least in case of future play.

Surely one of the mods you downloaded was one that made creature levels more static? That changed the game for me. I got sick of fighting super-rich bandits in glass armour every time I walked to the shops. Likewise, some creatures should have been more dangerous, but weren't. The mod changed all that, making me feel more powerful *and* fragile at the same time. Pretty sweet.
