We have quite a lot metal funs in here! :)
I wonder why there wasn't any mention of Savatage, which is severly underrated metal legend, in my opinion. Gutter Ballet and Edge of Thorns are simply perfection!
Did you try listening to Demons & Wizards? It was a joined project of lead vocalist of Blind Guardian Hansi Kursch and the lead guitarist of Iced Earth Jon Schaffer. I especially enjoyed: Crimson King and Seize the Day.
Try also:
- Masterplan (Soulburn)
- Royal Hunt (Another Man Down)
EDIT: corrected one link
Ragnarblackmane: SUMMONING is one of my all-time favorite bands in any genre. Their latest release, Old Morning's Dawn, is an absolute masterpiece.
If you like Summoning I highly recommend Caladan Brood. Like Summoning, their body of work is based upon a vast, deep mythological fantasy setting, but instead of Tolkien's Middle-Earth it is the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Actually, you are the second person who recommended Caladan Brood for me in a short time so I definitely have to check them out :)
My favourite Summoning album is Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame (2001). Seeing as it has many Hobbit feels, it's no wonder. I love the music, the lyrics, everything!
Our Foes Shall Fall
The king is come unto his hall
Under the mountain dark and tall
The worm of dread is slain and dead
And ever so our foes shall fall!
And here is where "The Hobbit" should have ended. The Smaug is dead and the dwarves reclaimed their home. Period. (I know, I'm a sucker for happy endings).

Great post iipo, some bands there I've never heard...although I bet for Deathchain you meant to type "thrash" and not "trash" eh?:) I ask because I've met people from European bands who, when coming to tour the US, have spoken "thrash" as "trash" due to the language differences. It was funny because at first I thought they were making some joke and insulting some American metal bands XD.
