morciu: The only thing is that the games here don't really work (I just posted about that in another thread), so if the steam versions run how they're supposed to run then it's +1 for steam
avatar
SLP2000: If it was not working, GOG wouldn't release it. A game has to run flawlessly on 20 different computers in GOG test lab to be released. If your PC configuration is not common, then probably that's the problem.

ps. prices on Steam could mean SE is dissappointed with sales here, I hope not, because that would mean we won't get more SE games.
Yeah well believe me I was surprised to when I started it and it didn't work. I doubt my configuration is that rare and uncommon that they overlooked it. Just check the subforum and see how many people can't play it properly.
why is it so hard to release these things with the expansions... I would buy them instantly.

Pheace: It's not like GOG hasn't had releases that were troubled. It's rare, but it does happen.
avatar
SLP2000: Sure, but they test those games, right? Or they lied about it, which I don't belive.

So, as I understand that some games might have some issues, it's not possible they would release completely broken game, and that's what morciu said.
Hey I love gog as much as the next guy but right now I have to call bullshit on that "testing on 30+ configurations before releasing a game" thing

Hmm, outside of a few threads commenting on graphical issues which can be related to driver, direct X, ect. there are very few threads especially after the inital release saying that the game wont run at all and the ones that were made haven't been bumped or had new posts in sometime. So it's not that widespread of a issue like the missing temple and chapter 4 crash was/is in betrayl in antara, the crash issues with Dungeon Keeper 2, or even the mess that is Interstate '76..that's if I was to go based on the subforum that is.

I just did this. Had to look quite a bit to find the people that can't play TR2. And guess what, most of those threads were before July 8th, when the Universal Patch was released.
I assume you did try with a patched version as well, and still can't get it to run, but I will side with the rest of the people and say that you are one of the unfortunate few who can't get the game to work, and not one of the majority who can't get it to work, since the subforum seems to say that most can get it working.

Edit: damn ninjas...

Hm, maybe GOG.com should be adding a new splash screen in their games
"For more excellent games like this one, visit GOG.com"
The classic Tomb Raiders work for me on multiple machines, both gog and non-gog versions.

Gotta love PC gaming :)

Why no one posted this on the steam forum ?
I better buy them here. Who knows if Squeenix will try to raise the prices in the future.

My game does "run" if I can say that. It starts, I can see some cutscenes and then I get this horrible flickering glitch that makes the game completely unplayable. If it didn't run at all would make no difference right now.

YOUR game, but all this time you been acting like EVERYONE or at least a good number of people are having issues which myself and another user have pointed out is false based on what we have seen in the sub forum at any rate which is something you pointed towards to back up your argument.

Look your having a problem fine but please stop acting like that is a sign that something is completely borked all around for everyone else when it's simply not the case.

I doubt they would be much more different. (Oh, and I think it's closer to 40 machines now.)

Morciu, I take it from your rep that you've at least purchased other GOG games here (or you just like to post a lot). Have most of them worked well for you?

Yeah I very pleased with most of the gog releases but this one just pushed my button.

Heh, I guess most everyone has at least ONE GOG game that they haven't been able to run satisfactorily. I'm assuming you've skimmed the TR sub-forum and seen if any info there can help?
