Reading this thread was the perfect thing for me to do before I go to sleep. And by sleep I mean play some games.
Course of action: Start political petitions and/or something if I don't like certain practices of corporations.

Thanks for the chuckles OP.

Wishbone: I'm sorry, who exactly are you talking to, and why?

Protoss: There was a DDOS attack a few days ago against EA and Valve, led by a terroristic group that called themselves something like Derp. They announced the attacks on Twitter.
So, you lead these script kiddies here. What are you trying to get GOG DDOSed? What will tinyE and all of us other people do when these forums are down for a day? This better not happen tomorrow...Monday's suck enough and without this forum I won't be responsible for perving on that cute chick in accounting. Sexual Harassment briefing here I come.

Here's good reasoning why DDoS attacks are terrorism.
My Dearest Protoss,
I cannot read all this crap.
I read some of your post, but I agree, the GOG community has become filled to the brim with a lot of new people... I'm tired of seeing thread after thread of give aways.. I remember where this used to be a board where we could talk about things and make each other laugh.

but all I see, is thread after thread of "win a game!" and silly three word stories and what not.

I didn't know there was a DDoS attack, but you're right, it just hurts the consumers.

A few bad apples and the whole barrel gets tossed out.

It's not for lack of trying on GOG's part, they love their community and they do a lot. I can really see that they care.
But there's just too many people, too much going on, and most of it fueled by smarties cereal.

Sincerely,
The Locker of Wecs, The World Economic Consortium Lock, Weclock.

Is this a real post? Are you really serious? Is this real life? Where am I?

wpegg: I approve of this aggression..
I started to post something like this when the thread first started, but figured why start the screaming.

But since you've already approved, then I want to voice my approval too.

And next time please include Blizzard, UPlay, ........

ChaunceyK: Yes. Its behind you. And it has three heads.
You look like you need a monkey.

I have one right here. Only 20 dollars American.
Did EA and Valve get attacked recently or something?

There is a way to make it so giveaways don't show up on your screen...you know...

Ah, you guys confiscate Bieber's monkey and then you try to sell it to us Americans. Like we want a monkey that was sexually abused by a Canadian.

Yeah, don't go to the GOG forums and you don't have to see any give aways.

Here's good reasoning why DDoS attacks are terrorism.
Uhm... I'm gonna go with "No".

First of all, that article is, not to put too fine a point on it, garbage.

Secondly, just because a weapon can be used for terrorism, that doesn't mean that all uses of said weapon are by definition terrorism.

If you fire a gun at a firing range, that's recreation or practice.

If you fire a gun at a tree on somebody else's property, that's vandalism.

If you fire a gun at a crowded town square, that's terrorism.

Likewise, if you DDoS a server used for sending phishing mails to innocents around the world, that's vigilantism.

If you DDoS a gaming service, shutting it down for a few hours, that's vandalism.

If you DDoS an air traffic control network, that's terrorism.

So, is DDoS'ing a gaming service just for the hell of it a nice thing to do? Of course it isn't.
Should the offenders be punished? Why, naturally.
Should they be tried as terrorists? Hell no.
