This game is a masterpiece full of great ideas and a large beautiful world! the entire team who created this game deserve alot of credit because they pulled it off brilliantly! The big fat cats say that PC gaming is a thing of the past and Console is the new gaming platform! but with games like Witcher 2 being PC exclusive and really benefiting from all the PC hardware maybe theyll see this and think twice!

The community has really came through and alot of people who would usually pirate games have bought this game as a thank you for taking faith in PC and also for the DRM FREE you have offered us.

Please take all the kind words you get from the PC community and never forget us! keep the Witcher a PC exclusive game and bring out many more in the future.

Thanks for the experience you deserve my money :)

Why? Console ports mean more money for CD Projekt which they in turn can re-invest in The Witcher 3 and judging by the backlash over Dragon Age 2 console gamers are crying out for proper RPG's just as much as we are.
Keep the license PC exclusive ? Not necessary, if a fellow gamer wants to experience The Witcher on his console, why should we prevent him from doing so ?

However, keeping the PC as the main target platform during development is a must, because it means better graphics, and a better interface and controls. When you've got this, it's relatively easy to downscale the textures and to simplify the interface to make it playable on a console. But when the main target was the console, we usually end up with crappy PC ports with sub-par graphics and ugly control schemes.

My understanding of this is make it for the PC and then do a shit port to the consoles...

How about making it for the PC and then doing a good port to the consoles? Everyone wins.

But the consoles have a bigger market which is why (IMO) the Devs center around that and make a (usually) shit port to PC.

Yeah but it was actually Crytek of all people that said making the PC the lead platform actually makes console games better. The reason games are so dumbed down these days is they are designed to work with console limitations first. Starting from the most powerful platform and working down is harder work for the devs but the end result is better.

the current console community needs to stfu because the only thing that community has down is lower the standard of real games over these last few years... its a slow process and it starts with ideas like " lets make it PC first than console later "... than the developer decides to make the PC game smaller with smaller environments and lower graphics to make the CONSOLE port a cheapier and quicker process...

I dont want another great publisher slowly going towards console just for the sake of selling out..What happened to doing it as a personal achievment ? they make enough money keeping this game PC exclusive..let the console players have there dumbd down BS !

the death of the witcher series starts the moment a console game is created because its all down hill from there... THE only way this is ever a half decent idea is when the next range of consoles come out with uber hardware thatll allow new technology to be used...

Current consoles and there community need to die off silently and stop bringing everyone down with them

That was my point, but you expressed it far better than I did. PC is the most complex platform, so it should be the main focus of the development. Porting from PC to console will, IMHO, result in a decent port. Porting from console to PC usually results in ugly ports.

Which brings us back to my understanding of the point. Make it for the PC and a shitty port to console. O.o

Consoles as you know and have stated cannot really handle what a PC can so common sense would be get a good thing made for the PC and port it with lower GFX (insertshittygamepadcontrolshere) for consoles for the extra income.

Why oh why Devs do it the other way is beyond me.

Thats you opinion and you are entitled it but theres no need to tell communities to "stfu" they are entitled to voice thier opinions too, even if they don't align with yours or anyone else's.

No amount of talking will convince a console player that destroying the creativity of a game for the sake of there lazyness and dumbd down controls is a bad idea

It's easy and it saves development time and money. Develop the PS3 and Xbox360 versions then port the 360 version to the PC which is quite easy and then get your drivers right and the PC can automatically display at a higher res than consoles making it look better. Job done. They might even code Anti-Aliasing if you are a lucky boy, usually not though.

^ always looks bad tho lol theres not a port in the world that looks good because its always restricted to hardware that is ancient...its optimized for crappy old hardware a real gamer wouldnt touch at all...

its such a shame that pc gaming suffers so badly due to these console players and there crazy ideas of ruining everygame in sight because there incapable of learning how to use a computer or how to plug a computer into a big screen tv.. or how to buy a xbox 360 controller for there computer..

but theres always a bunch of idiots that godda ruin it for everyone i guess

The "backlash" over DA2 happened entirely online and almost entirely due to PC gamers. The game has now sold 2 million units and reached 1 million sales faster than DAO did. I do agree it would be a good move to do console versions - even TW1 actually feels more like a console game to me for reasons such as the focus on real-time combat and control methods like how there's only 1 spell button, and how you set what that spell is rather than there being a cast button for each separate one.

I don't know about you but two console owning friends of mine (one 360, one PS3) have both traded in their copies of DA2 and complained about exactly the same things PC gamers did. The outcry over DA2 is far more widespread than you think becuase if it was just PC gamers complaining then BioWare would be ignoring it as they ignored us during development of DA2.
