I loved playing King's Quest 1, Sopwith, Prince of Persia, Star Control 2, One Must Fall, and Maniac Mansion.

BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception (1988) was another awesome game.

I looked at a gameplay video of Slipheed and it looks like a fun game. The reviewer mentioned another great game called Fextor, which a remember watching a friend play, but I'm not sure if I've spelled correctly.

between the Atari 2600 and C64 there it is to many to mention... Played my first computer game in '76, so.... get of my lawn *shakes cane*.

Can mention Impossible Mission for the 64? First version is from '84, and it is really the first game I still remember with pride beating. Not so impossible now, are you?

Greatest flying game EVER and previously mentioned in another thread by myself, Wings of Fury. There are countless links to the oringinal, ROMS, clones, and fan made remakes, this is just the moby link, but try google for some variety. Given how old it is and what you could do, it was mind blowing.

Take off from your carrier and start by hitting Japanese held islands, then more islands, then a destroyer or two, then a carrier, then a destroyer and a carrier, then some islands, a destroyer, couple carriers, all while fighting of Zeros and keeping Japanese torpedo bombers from finishing off your crippled carrier. If you said this about a new game you'd think, "Sounds great!" Can you imagine what it was like when we got all of this in 1989 on an apple!? Good stuff.

One of my favourites when I was very young was Imogen, released in 1986 for the Acorn BBC Micro. It's a puzzle-platform game in which you play a wizard trapped in a magical cave complex and must find the components of the spell that will release you. The only other magic you have been left with is a shape-shifting spell, and puzzles are based around using the different abilities of the three forms you can take: human (using items), monkey (climbing) and cat (jumping high and far). Some sections are fairly straightforward, others infuriating.

one of my earliest gaming experiences is Fred, even though we didn't have it on ZX Spectrum but on some crazy old Sharp computer that had a green/black only monitor...

I've spent so much time playing on that box that I could literally see a green rectangle long minutes after I've finished playing and turned that on... long story short, I'm still not blind, so hurray! :D

Hehe, only two days ago I posted this.

I bought this the week it came out and in one form or another I have continued to play it to this day. I had this huge fully colored poster on my wall LucasArts sent me for mailing in my POP. It was beautiful because I was a young adolescent and the poster had the punk rocker on the front wearing a tight leather mini-skirt.

That places me almost exactly in the middle. It's interesting that gamers are apparently older than average, but I guess not surprising seeing as people don't generally start until they're some years old.

When I was a kid... there was no home computers of any kind and there was no videogames of any kind! There was no Call of Duty! We played ARMY in the woods with sticks and we liked it too.

I just turned 37 but you know I virtually gave up gaming in my 20s. I saw an entire thread on this in another forum created by a guy who loved gaming, but he turned 19, went off to college, and now he is worried because gaming is no longer the most important thing in his life. I theorized that gaming will of course take a back seat in your 20s because you've just become an adult, you are expected to immediatly figure out what the hell you want to do with your life, you've gone from mom's home cooking to ramen noodles, you are selfish, and worst of all you absolutly don't know shit about anything yet you are convinced you know everything about everything.

I was that way untill 30 when I got settled, stopped trying to do something with my life, and most important, came to the realization that I was an idiot! :D Now I'm back to either gaming 24/7, hanging out in here, or watching pro wrestling.
