That was my first reaction! There aren't many better LAN games out there at the moment.

SimonG: My understanding might be wrong, but this is very well how the guy answering this read this.
JMich: Thank you for the explanation. I knew I should have taken legalese when I had the chance, but I decided to go with English and French as foreign languages :( I do also speak a bit of supportese, but mostly the Tech dialect, not the Customer one...
Still, does THQ have any game older than 2007? Where's Barry when you need a list damn it...
Winter Assault (The only non standalone expansion) was 2005.
These 2 here would be awesome!

P1na: I would have thought THQ to be safe based on DLC's alone. Just from the number alone, they should be making a shitload of extra money with minimum investment, I think it's the publisher with most DLCs per game (out of the new games I've played at least, not that many to be honest)
But as with the parent game, it's all contingent on enough people actually buying them. You can release a hundred DLC packs, but if only a handful of potential customers buy a handful of packs, you're not going to make much cash, even given the minimal investment. Not to mention that a vast number of DLCs available not long after release might actually put some people off.

Damn, I was hoping to see them dead. Now they are gonna release Company of Heroes 2 and they will come afloat once again.

Not very nice for all the people who rely on THQ to pay their bills at the end of the month... Besides, THQ is probably not the best publisher out there but I don't see them as evil, not at all.

There are already a number of games on GOG which have defunct multiplayer functions, including several that make use of long-offline multiplayer services. 1nsane and Worms 2 come to mind straight away (although 1nsane can at least be played over a LAN).

You know, thousands of people loose their job everyday. I wouldn't cry over few more, especially that they would probably find another job pretty quickly or found a new studio to make "indie" games or something. But I agree with that THQ not being "evil" unlike "others", and I really enjoyed WH40K: DoW and COH too.
But it's better to see them and their franchises bought (although with WH40K wouldn't be that simple) than to see them struggle another 2-3 years and die anyway.
It's better to be bought than to end up like another Interplay, who destroyed and polluted almost everything they ever had (yeah, I really started to hate them after Black Isle is back stunt)

I do think they will eventually die, but only because nothing they are doing is going to save them. They should be cutting back, lowering budgets and concentrating on making a profit, any kind of profit. Instead they keep rolling the dice on big budget "AAA" releases that need to sell way more than they will to break even.
I haven't seen a fundamental shift in the company's tactics that will change their course. They instead are doing the same shit and expecting a different result.
"Saint's Row 3 and Darksiders 2 will save us by selling 10 million copies!"
"Okay that didn't happen, but Saint's Row 4 and Metro Last Light will save us by selling 10 million copies!"

Again wonder what happened to Patrice Désilets, one of the creators of Assassin's Creed, he must be regretting joining THQ.

Rodzaju: The first Dawn of War was 2004.
Winter Assault (The only non standalone expansion) was 2005.
These 2 here would be awesome!
Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal is 2002, and one I'd dearly like to have here. Impulse is such a turn-off.Winter Assault (The only non standalone expansion) was 2005.
