Ubisoft what?

Ubisoft released some of their new games on GOG.

HOMM5, PoP, AssCreed.

This struck me in the article:

"We would like to thank Paul for his significant contributions over the past four years and wish him well in his future endeavors,"

Is it just me, or does that read like a bad work reference? "Well, he consistently made an effort to do well..."

2006, 2008, 2007. That's the far edge of what I'd consider 'new' to be honest. Not to mention they had the benefit of already being un- DRM'ed before coming here.

Those were released around 06/07. that is nearly six years ago. They had their shelf life, releasing them now DRM free is not an issue for Ubisoft.

Publishers still are reluctant or simply unable to release any new (less than 2 years old) titles DRM free, for various reasons.

The mail stated "There are a number of THQ games that interest me and I would most certainly like to purchase them. Nevertheless,none of the THQ games I wish to buy are currently being sold on GOG.comand thus I would like to inquire as to when THQ will be offering their titles on GOG.com as this is my retailer of choice"

For me this doesn't read like "where are the old games?" but more "why don't you sell your game also here?".

My understanding might be wrong, but this is very well how the guy answering this read this.

Makes me wonder what happened to Patrice Désilets , one of the creators of Assassin's Creed, I think now he must regretting joining THQ.

(Well, they were the PAL publishers, so I think they have no influence any longer on this game).

Apart from that, Red Faction comes to mind. They seem to be more console based.

For me, everything that came after Infinity Engine games is new. :P

But I suppose you might be right, I don't expect THQ to release their newest games on gog, but I think it should be possible to release 2006-2008 games here.

I would guess even without DRM concerns no publisher will want to put brand new games here because the Steam/Origin/Uplay structure makes patching/DLC/multiplayer so much easier. It would be a tremendous hassle and has nothing to do with DRM.

Once the games are full patched, fully DLC'd and dead on the multiplayer side (if they had one) they are candidates for coming here. Assassin's Creed qualified, as did Far Cry 2. Hopefully we see stuff like AC2 and Call of Juarez soon, but it will be years before AC3 is even considered.

I hope EA and others follow with games like Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge, neither of which have been DRM free and are certainly done updating/DLCing.

It would be a good move from THQ to add their previous games here. It could help boost some sales and give them more revenue.

The problem for their latest games is that they are all based on Steamworks or GFWL so a little bit of work is required (and, what about multiplayer then ?).
