IronStar: I'd love this scenario too, but harsh reality suggests EA for WWE and most likely Ubi for the rest as they said they are looking for new franchises.
They are highly valuable asset. I doubt anyone would be insane enough to disband them.
Still, I don't think there is bright future ahead :(
Tarm: Yeah. But I wont give up hope yet. They are highly valuable asset. I doubt anyone would be insane enough to disband them.

Still, I'm not actually sure if I'd prefer Cd Projekt to spend their money on buying IP, or making.their own and spending money on making it better.
...bur than again...Darksiders 3 by CDP! One can only hope. :)

P1na: Personally, what I really care about is Relic. I kinda liked THQ, but I'll be satisfied if Relic goes on as it has. Either by continuing their IPs (Homeworld, Dawn of war, company of heroes) or selling them and starting anew. Just, please, keep that one running. Please.
keeveek: Dawn of War is not their IP. It belongs to Games Workshop. And I don't think GW will stay with a bankrupt. They will probably find a new business partner to make new WH40K games. mondo84

Who does everyone's nutsack disappear when jobs are involved? The essence of capitalism is that bad product and bad companies fail. THQ deserves to go under and have their best assets go to someone who can use them effectively. The fact they keep liming along is what is unfortunate.

Shitty management != bad company. And if ActiBlizz is example of good company...they re making money, aren't they?
...oh, capitalism is flawed concept BTW...

Because THQ was an excellent publisher. They often took risks with their games, which ultimately didn't pay off.

Game quality and appeal is subjective. What is a fact is that they continually invested high amounts of money into projects which did not make a return. That's called "oh shit we suck at this and deserve to go out of business."

I don't think having compassion means I'm not in possession of my testicles/scrotum.
It just means I generally dislike news about people losing jobs and companies going under. To my knowledge THQ wasn't malicious in anything they did, though maybe I don't know enough. All companies make bad decisions, and the ones that make more bad decisions may end up bankrupt. Still, I'd like to see THQ survive in some capacity. I guess I have nothing to gain from them going out of business (not implying others do, obviously), so naturally I like to root for them since they face a big challenge.
Just a small show of support is all. They published STALKER, one of my favorite games of all time, so I owe them that much.

...well I enjoyed THQ game played. I'm even enjoying Juiced 2, that's probably one of worst games they published. And I'm playing ps2 version that is considered worst of the lot. Also what SimonG said.
edited 2nd bit mere.seconds after I posted it, as bad is probably too strong word.

Most heard critizism about companies in general: "Executive interference" and "pushed out games to early". Both which THQ didn't do.
Objectively THQ was very innovative (CoH and Metro eg.) with the games they published and gave the devs a lot of freedom. Too much freedom, obviously.
It was mostly bad management. And knowing Games Workshop they probably didn't make a lot of money on all the WH 40K games, which certainly didn't help.
