It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I love this site. The backend on it seems to be pretty amazing. Who coded this sucker? I often outsource web development and I would love to work with whomever is behind this slick beast.
Thanks.
Now I'm gonna go check out some old games! ; )

I agree, very well designed aswell! Love it.
Me too, user friendly, very fast and good looking site. Thanks.
Yes, the site as a whole and the forum in particular is very slick, much better than vBulletin, phpBB et al. GOG should market the forum software IMHO.
A couple of suggestions:
1. The current titles for forum pages, e.g. "GOG.com - Forum - General discussion - This Website's Technology" don't work very well with tabbed browsing. After opening a few tabs, they all say just "GOG.com - Forum...". I'd prefer it if the order of the elements in the title were reversed, e.g. "This Website's Technology - General discussion". Personally I think the "GOG.com" and "Forum" elements are redundant.
2. Are there any plans for any kind of private message facility? I'm seeing some familiar handles here and it would be great to PM, if only to ask "Hi, do you happen to be the same [handle] as on the [blah] forum?"
Just my two pence.

While I love the site and forums, I think the forums could use even more polishing up... just make the message area look more slick and pretty.
Sorry for the multi-years bump. ;)

The GOG website is really well-made. It's probably the best I've seen in its category. I've been wondering for some time if it uses an existing CMS or if it's been made from scratch with a custom solution?

Venom's link doesn't seem to work anymore...
FWIW, when talking to the website design / marketing firm I hired to make my business site, I referred them to gog.com as an example of the clean design I'm looking for.

Yeah, because the "team" page has been merged with the "thanks" page (and slightly cut down in the process, it no longer features a short presentation of each member).

Well no shit. It's five fucking years old. This is why nercoing old threads is dumb and causes confusion and unwanted replies.

Let's stick to resurrecting the GOOD old stuff, shall we? The games! Post new threads in future. It's only a database entry. It's no more of a strain on the forums than posting in this thread.

Why would I want to open a new thread to ask the same question and disperse the eventual answers? I'm still trying to find about the technology behing GOG.com, I'd like to know if they use a custom CMS or an existing solution.
Could someone give me a link the the site you guys are all looking at because the one I use breaks at the drop of a hat.

You see that darkened bar that goes across the bottom of the page behind the facebook, twitter, youtube etc. links? It doesn't even go all the way across..

Another criticism - the menu bar at the top uses mouseover, which makes it impossible to use on a tablet or phone.
2008, we meet again
Design of this site - as a balm for my eyes. 8-)
Seriously.
Also, a simple and easy usability. Praise.
