And I'm pretty sure its not supposed to be. But hell, I've attached the proof.

The yellow usage indicates unmetered data - in other words, it doesn't count toward my meager 15GB limit. I first noticed downloading the longest journey about a week ago, thats the first big chunk of yellow. I was confused as hell but that's the only thing that big I downloaded on the day. The second chunk of yellow is updating TF2, thats supposed to be unmetered so nothing odd there. The third chunk of yelow comes after a now invisible chunk of yellow on the previous day, where I test downloaded a few more games from my library to see if it was a fluke or not. Fluke it is not.

That last chunk of yellow is none other than The Witcher 2. I have no idea how you did it GoG, but I salute you. If its unintentional that your downloads are unmetered with any ISP, I suggest you go about making it intentional - Us users with small download limits will flock to you, as even Steam can't get its game together to provide unmetered downloads of every game, let alone guarantee we get to the unmetered content servers without... Ahem, influencing the matter.

Anyone from GoG reading this care to clarify why it's happening?

It's most likely completely unintentional. I'd check the ISPs "fine print" to see what classifies as unmetered usage. If normal browsing (http and https) is unmetered, your yellow chunks is data downloaded using these protocols.

Very interesting - this is exactly the opposite of what's happening with me. As I said here, data from gog is counted but from GG (and now it turns out getgamesgo) isn't counted. Works out well for me as my gog games are generally far smaller in file size than GG games. :)
My ISP has a set list of websites (so behind the scenes, IP's I guess) to which connections are unmetered, the type of traffic does not influence this to my knowledge.

And no, GoG is not on the list.

Edit: Some googling and the only possible explanation I've encountered is that the data from GoG is somehow being routed through an unmetered server. I performed tracert's on the download connection to GoG a couple of times but haven't been able to identify any servers that would obviously be unmetered.

I still don't get why people outside third world countries and Australia still buy into metered internet.

Because the alternative is no internet at all or liars who claim you get unlimited but then slow you to dialup speed after you go over a gig

I said OUTSIDE Australia.....bloody aussie can't hear it seems. :\

;)

(And imo, i'd rather have slow internet than pay by the gig internet anyways. Just my two cents.)

There are a lot of internet service providers here in the states that have started capping bandwidth as well (sort of) . In my area im pretty sure that both Comcast and AT&T do it. The difference is that the limit is 250 GB a month, and going over it just means you pay a small extra fee. Or at least that's what they say in the contract. I have never had anyone tell me they had to pay the extra fee. Its pretty hard to use that much bandwidth.

Edit:
Oops, I seem to have misunderstood what metered internet is. Here I go making a fool of myself again...

Uh, haven't updated my GoG profile in a while. I'm from the UK, but currently in Australia. So yeah.

Um you got it right I think. I was talking about metered internet as in so much DL as month. Still, in most places in the US thankfully we have unlimited internet plans available otherwise i'd go nuts.(I DL a ton of crap every month.....at least 100GB maybe more.)

Tried 56k lately? The internet is almost literally unuseable these days, even struggles at 128k/s which is a common shaping speed. Its all who owns the physical media, if Cockface Ripoff Telecoms Inc own the lines and are the only isp running in your area (regardless of country), then you deal with CRT Inc or you have no internet. Its frankly shameful how shit this planets comms infrastructure is

I agree the infrastructure is shit......I read somewhere that prototypical fiber optics have been designed to carry 5x the current bandwidth and replace or sit alongside our current phone lines and yet they haven't been setup in many places if at all since their announcement.

Its GOG, not GoG.

Well, given the speeds I'm getting, I don't think I could download 100gb in a month even if they let me :/

I wish everyone had japan level internet, but sadly the powers that be deem it impossible.
