It seems Titchmarsh's affinity with vegetables is due mostly to them being his intellectual peers.

Couldn't have expressed my viewpoint better than this.
Although I definitely respect the composure maintained by Ingham, despite the sheer horror you could see in his face at times. I could imagine him thinking that, on occasion, violence has a place in our society.

Well, we are a violent species. Games can provide an outlet for our more violent instincts. Maybe it's only because he was a gamer that Ingham was able to maintain his composure in the face of such wilfully enforced ignorance and outright misinformation and lies.

What he should have done is have a small printout of the picard facepalm jpg and just flashed it whenever the others said something especially moronic (if it was for every single moronic thing his wrist would have dropped off).
Hillarious! :D

Delixe: ITV are as disgraceful as always. Making a total joke of the issue they raised.
I would also like to add that the Bulger murder happened in 1993 which was long before games like GTA appeared. IIRC it was the movie Child's Play that was used in their defence not videogames.

Let's not forget the Holocaust!

It has just struck me that the interview in question did not once show clips from any of these games, in order to provide the audience with the evidence to make their own conclusions. I can therefore conceive of only two scenarios that can explain their pantomime reactions:
1) They just react like this in general to any mention of contentious material due to an in-built judgemental streak.
2) They have already bought Modern Warfare 2 for their 11 year olds at Christmas, and are thus intimately familiar with the airport level.
In either case, the Picard facepalm picture should be at least of A2 size.

One facepalm just isn't enough.

That still doesn't cover it.

Wraith: Wait a second.....I haven't watched the video but they reference the "Bulger" killing. Are they seriously referencing the James Bulger kidnapping/murder from 1993? Or was there another incident with the same name?
If it is the 1993 case, I can't even fathom how they could link it.
avatar
robobrien: The Bulger case was back on the front pages in the UK because one of the killers was accused of an undisclosed crime, i guess they brought it up purely because it was a hot media topic again.

How the hell did they even find out about it? I was under the impression the killers were put under some bastardized form of witness protection for criminals.

Aliasalpha: Otters yell steeeeeeve a lot do they?

I went to find an audio clip of otters and then realised that I was actually talking about sea lions (audio at bottom of sidebar ; compare to audience noise [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZERhdL9Cv74&feature=related]on Steve Wilkos' show). It turns out that otters meow and sound more like the audience of American Idol.
... returning to the topic at hand, I just read through the second link of the OP. That's an excellent letter.

Wraith: One of them was put back inside (or under secure housing) because of concerns from his case workers, so i guess that got leaked somehow. They are protected, have new identities and are under some kind of supervision.

bansama: It would probably help if something were done to address this misinformed image of games. Or at least, if a resource were readily available to people who have concerns over the content of games and are actually wanting to educate themselves on the matter without immediately jumping to incorrect conclusions.
