It's sad that in it's current state its such a pain to get this game to work on Vista or XP. Fan of the Civilization series would flip if this game was ever re-released by GOG. If there are any fans out there show your support!

You got my vote. Used to own this game and loved it (but somehow lost the disk when I moved not long ago).
Cons: Owned by EA. Yeah, it's not gonna happen.
We can hope that "new" EA, helmed by John Riticello, will see the benefits of something like gog, espicially as a way to test market old franchises to see if they are still profitable.
After all, throw up Crusader, get lots of interest and sales, hey, maybe we'll do a next gen one (wishful thinking, I know).
EA has such a treasure trove in terms of old games, the Ultima's, System Shock 1 and 2, Crusader, Alpha Centauri, C&C, and countless others that I hope they'd consider something like this.
Doubt it, they have their own digital distribution service in the works, IIRC.

They've had their own digital distribution system out for awhile, but it only seems to pander to their new releases, and last I checked (and used it) it's absolutely horrible compared to Steam, Impulse, and even Direct 2 Drive.
IIRC, they don't even have unlimited downloads, unless they dropped that program... they stopped hosting the file for you after six months or something, in which case you had to buy it again.
I'm hoping, as well as many others, EA just scraps the idea and goes with a trusted, reliable DD service, but they are stubborn. Who knows, hopefully the new CEO sees things differently, and they decide to release their back catalog out somewhere.
I'm hoping GOG is successful enough to show a lot of companies people still want to buy older games.

I've never had a problem running this under XP - but it's the std version, not the alien Xfire one.
Got my vote!!

Crysis and Crysis Warhead are advertised on Steam now, so you never know.

I would love to play this game. I had a chance to pick it up as a Jewel Case CD a long time ago, but I didn't and now I regret it :(

they are not EA's game though.
EA will try to push their digital distribution system which sux big time. no love for gog or steam.
Oh i forgot about that game spent a lot of hours playing that when it was originally released. Hopefully it will come here.
Still have the cd's. A shame the last time i tried to play it couldn't get it to work on my PC...
While Civ (at least #3, I missed #1 most of #2, and never got into #4) did take away a lot of my life.
It was "Alpha Centauri" that gave me a D in one of my college courses thanks to 8 hour plus marathon hot-seat games late at night (and early into the morning...).
While EA would be more likely to release it under their own service, because they see DRM as the spice of the universe, and the spice must flow... I'd love to see Alpha Centauri on gog.com. :)
However, if you check the Playstation Store you can buy Command and Conquer and a few Bullfrog Games (owned by EA). There may be a chance.
