Which one do you think we will get? I'm a bit worried because gamersgate only has the dark project. Anyone else going to feel disappointed if we don't get the Gold edition, which adds 3 new levels and adds improvements to the other 12?

Well, not releasing the best possible version wouldn't be a new step for GOG.

all i'm gonna say is i can get the entire Thief collection off Ebay UK for a tenner sealed and delivered.

it's up to GoG to try and compete with that.

Gold I would simply buy, without question. If it is only the Dark Project, I'll probably wait.

I really wish people would stop bitching about that. The rights on those expansion packs might never be settled. I for one am happy to have DK even if it doesn't include the expac.

They'll probably get the full thing as I doubt that Square Enix is as screwed up internally as EA is.

There is a patch for Dark Project that is around 100mb that will update your game to latest version and make it the Gold edition with the extra levels. Can be a bit difficult to find the patch but it is out there in cyberspace. I know this because I have a first edition copy of Thief in the big box and updated it to Gold via the patch.

If you buy Thief now on the Sold Out range it is the Gold edition so I think when it lands here it will be Gold.

It doesn't much matter to me though I'd prefer to have Gold if possible of course. I plan to get it and try it either way.

Sorry. I thought you were referring to the lack of expansion packs on some of the versions.

In retrospect I realize that you were probably referring to the DOS versions being used whenever possible rather than the Windows version.

The Thief Gold cover was the one that was pixellated on the banner, so it will probably be that.

I will buy one or another or both at once.

Thief 1 is the the most wanted game from my point of view.
System Shock 2 comes after that.

I remember playing for hours, sneaking in the dark, waiting for the right moment.

Graphics was okay too (at the time of release).
Amazing setting, great atmosphere.
Sounds & Ambient were just perfect (I had Aureal 3D soundcard with headphones, there were no Live! support at first).

GOG offers Windows versions of Earth 2140 (which has no AI) and Windows version of Incredible Machine 2 (aka TIM 3, which can't play CD music and has ugly interface). GOG also offers non-upgraded Realms of the Haunting (which has no control mapping), and Earthworm Jim 1+2 (which is not the Special Edition 1+2, but just two games bundled together). GOG also offers compilation versions of M&M 4 and 5 (which have no CD audio unlike the original releases).

So, GOG getting non-Gold Thief is still a possibility.

As long as they have some awesome extras on release (Maybe they can actually talk Square into letting them sort out the source code?), I'll sell the shirt on my back to by it/them. Otherwise, my Thief CDs are all in great condition and don't really need replacing any time soon.

This will be my first time to buy such a great game legally!

We get it, you don't like the EIDOS releases price points.....:P
