I'm getting tired of dying. I have been stuck on the Command Deck in Bioshock Infinite for (embarrassed to say how long) *gulp*. Altho, when you die, you start again at the beginning of Command Deck which isn't too bad. But I'd sure like to pick up where I left off !!

I have died so many times in Penumbra Overture that I'm not sure I'm ever going to get to Black Plague. *sigh*

What's really frustrating is that I'm playing Alone in the Dark The New Nightmare. Well, when you die there you have to go waaaay back and begin again. I got thru the gate with the key, up the stairs, ran like heck and managed to get away from the mad dogs (had died there many times before), then killed two spider monsters and then died at the water thing. So I have to start again waaaay back just before the gate part. GRRRR Not fair !

And how about Half-Life-2, Slender The Arrival and Pathologic. Metro 2033 is the least worrisome. Yes, I die a lot, but at least, you pick up again just prior to dying and get another go at it.
Woe is me, but I do so love these games.

Maybe I need a breather and replay Miasmata or Dear Esther. You think ? :D
My first playthrough recently of Summoner, I played all the way through to the first sewers map, then died at the boss encounter. It was at that point (after about 3 hours of play) that I discovered the game was pre-autosaving. I should have known, but boy did that annoy me. There was nothing to do but 3 hours of the same thing again.
I ****ing hate games that do that. I know some devs say it's a design decision and they think it somehow makes the game better, but I absolutely hate being forced to replay long sections of a game every time I die or have to leave the computer. I generally avoid games that have this 'feature' and it seems to me that many FPS games are like this, and since I don't like FPS, that suits me just fine. But for other games, if I see this is the way the game is set up, I'll more than likely pass on it.

Right...I know exactly what you mean. I truly, absolutely, without a doubt believe that Devs should state if they've used the auto-save. And I won't buy them !! So there.

To be fair, in this case it was prior to the concept being a standard. Autosaves were fairly common then, but many games didn't.
You should give dark souls a try }:)

MHO is that the Devs use it cause it's easier and cheaper. It's a HUGE annoyance. There just must be a way to know.

Definitely not bad, you might find it a bit easy tho :D
I suggest playing the game on the easiest setting possible till you figure out how not to die :]

Pfft, girl. In my day you had 3 lives to complete the whole game, you die, back to the beginning!

do you always tend to die easy in games or are the characters you play just overly suicidal? :P

Now that's down right mean. I'm surprised that many didn't give up on gaming, too discouraging.

Funny, but actually both...I get so into a game that I become that character. (^_^)
