Well I am finally in the positive again, think I learned alot in my few months in the red there. I been on GOG for about four years now but didn't go on the forums much till last winter. That was also the lowest point in my life, but don't want to add drama here. Asked for some games on the site I couldn't buy and got in some hot water. Did it all wrong apparently and rubbed some regulars the wrong way. Made up with them and moved on, but got marked by trolls. Not till the Ninja thread got locked down did I see the constant downrepping go down.

I have since gotten on my feet better, made some great friends here, and have given out more than I have received on here finally as well. GOG has the best community online and I have been on a few and don't miss any of them. I would actually miss the people here on this site. Think I learned something in this journey and glad I have managed to make it full circle.

No offense, but if you created a post about rep, you haven't learned that much.
Welcome back to positive territory. Glad it turned around for you.
Golf clap anyone?
OP needs to give Lester and stg83 (forget his exact name) some sage advice :)

So I guess the topic subject should be, There and back and there again: A Downrepper's Tale... :P

Internet friends are like the tooth fairy. When you finally see them you find out they're someone else.

There is a pretty big divide between our resident Lester and our resident sage, stg83...just saying that if one pays any kind of attention, the difference is very clear. ;-p

I don't understand. You mean internet friends are fake on the internet and not in real life?
But on the subject that the OP put forth, I agree that the GOG forum is one heck of a place. And I, for one, am glad that the relative mishegas seems to have abated...

People code themselves to act a certain way in a certain environment. I believe the internet and the real world are environments far enough apart that the way people act and behave in one doesn't transfer over to the other.

Yeah things are too peaceful now... The forces of chaos are being pushed back. I think it's time for me to create a new ninja thread. Muahahahaha.
Don't worry about rep and you'll live a happier life.

I believe that people are themselves on the internet but in real life, a lot of people put on a mask because they aren't hiding behind a username anymore. And in real life, people feel more vulnerable. They are not in the safety of their home and they are more open to judgement because in person, they are revealing more of themselves. And also when you are face to face with people, you are in an environment that allows you to have more empathy for others around you.
