There is a patch to update your game up to the DC edition. I think the main difference is the sex scenes, they are fully available to all regions, even to regions where they were previously censored, with the DC edition.

AFAIK, it's the same.

Enhanced edition means the final patch is included, which remastered a lot of content and voicework, fixed a lot of bugs and loading times. The "director's cut" is a patch for the US which adds back in some European only content like nudity.

Both are available for the original release of the game through patches. The retail re-release included some tangible goodies like a soundtrack, map and other such things.

If you fully patch up the EE then you've got the Director's Cut. In the US the game was censored. So Americans also gain an uncensored version of the game from that patch. But it's not so purposeful on this side of the pond.

No offense, man, but I think the whole censoring is pretty stupid.

You (well, of course, not the people, but you get my point I guess) censor the human body, yet you don't censor the slaughtering of the same thing, basically.

Movies are filled with murders, masacres, and they are rated teen. Yet when a guy shows his man parts, the movie gets rated M immediately.

That's freaking stupid.

Its origins are probably in the traditions of classiness in late 19th century United States. We have not grown above it, unfortunately.

Don't look to the United States for any kind of rational consistency. It will hurt your brain.

The main reason games get censored like that in America is so they can be sold at more places. Generally Walmart (and pretty much every other major retailer) wont sell games with nudity in them, and publishers really want to get shelf space at Walmart. There are exceptions, like God of War. I assume a huge publisher and expensive lawyers had something to do with that.

The scary thing is that it took a long time before we allowed that sort of crap on our money. Now the right wing nutjobs freak out whenever a coin accidentally omits the unconstitutional phrase.
