I think you guys are missing the fundamental point of this. This content is insulting. CDP have assumed, in fact mandated, that we are adults with an internet connection. The suggestion that we'd have any interest in some low grade smut when there is degradation to whatever standard you might wish available within a few clicks, is frankly too patronising to be forgiven.

I really get pissed of with sex scenes in movies now. I find myself thinking, I can just go on the net and get this, I wanted to watch the film. Throughout the sex scene in Watchmen I was thinking FFS get back to Rorshach, we can just google her tits!

There is no need for it, and it should be stopped. I value my time, and when I'm watching a good film / playing a good game, I want it to be purely dedicated to the plot. If I want porn, I'll get it without their help.

hedwards: I think this way we could at least finally settle whether it's boobs that are offensive to feminists or the fact that they don't have them that's the deeper problem.
Kind of like the study that showed the homophobes in the study were aroused by homosexual porn? Anger from jealousy (or angry confusion from self-righteous brain washing, which usually seems to be the case)?

Dr. Manhattan had a separate budget just for animating his wang. Seriously. HE HAD A WANG BUDGET!

Nope. It's Playboy. Playboy has boobs. Don't like boobs? Don't read Playboy.

So are pictures of mass graves, hangings and a long and violent history of humanity. With actual dead people. You can even find pictures of Jews forced by gunpoint to man the incinerators. So where the fuck's your indignation of having to hack and slash your way through a game to get to the story?

If you think sex automatically stops something from being a good film, and there's never a need for it, you're doing 'good story' wrong.

bevinator: Well, really, "feminist" just means "someone who thinks women deserve the same rights as men." So the majority of the populations of modern societies, men and women alike, are feminists. However, when you actually SAY "feminist," people immediately assume you're talking about a very butch militant lesbian. It's just one of those things.
That's not generally the case, at least not in the US. There's a definite prejudice against men in various areas of life, from domestic violence and sexual offenses to the modern education system.

Lately we've been having a lot of female teacher busted molesting children, but I'd be very much surprised if the one man doesn't end up getting a much stiffer sentence.

There may be value to equality there, but it's been so covered up in bullshit over the years that it's dishonest to suggest that it's particularly prevalent.

And so we reach for our Martin Luther King Jr. who pointed out that this country is filled with lying assholes who preach equality for all (it is in the document written by slave holders that got us this country in the first place) but in practice does everything it can to make life unequal for those who are different.

Which also makes "we embrace diversity" on of the most assholish but revealing PR phrase ever invented.

Wraith: As far as porn objectifying women, I don't see it, because I'm not objectifying them when I see them. Plus, as others have pointed out, there are plenty of other things that objectify both men and women that are never talked about. The argument of objectifying them is moot, it always boils down to "This is wrong for moral reasons."
Objectifying in this case means that they are changed for money, they become sellable products. The discussion can go to a lot of places from here, it may be more complicated than I would like it to, so I just explain what is my problem.

I'm perfectly ok with sex in arts, when it makes sense, and I also love sex in real life, with as many girls as I can. Sex by itself is not the problem. My problem is that sex is becoming trivialized, it is not tied to real people, only to some "objects" that can give you what you want in exchange of money. In every country I have visited there does not seem to be a healthy culture of sex, it's always some sort of war between men and women and men always talk as if women were a place to cum and move on (and I guess women have their own version of this). And I think that this kind of things, this Playboy pics, are only making sexual culture worst. Sex should not be related with money in the slightest, because sex is not a product.

All joking aside, I think 'witty' remarks like that betray the defensive stance of many posters here against the OP's raised concerns and show where the other side is coming from. Nowadays "feminism" is either ridiculed or considered something hostile and dangerous to men ... Kind of like a red rag to some obviously.

Bare titties came from Egypt Land...let the titties shoooooooow.
ya i had almost forgotten this funny how people suggest from time to time to others to play the mdk series games on gog, how come i saw no one protest against it ? do most people even know that mdk stands for [Murder, Death, Kill] so you are ok recommending this game to others but pissed off at getting a pixel character to pose for the game ?
high rated
Here's the big thing right.

I'm male. any argument I could have about objectifying women is immediately dashed by the fact I have a penis.

do I find prostitution wrong? yes. do I find the treating of women as second class citizens wrong? yes.

can I go into a long winded rant about how representing women in playboy is wrong? no. I have a penis, I have looked at girls before and gone 'wow she's attractive' that there destroys any and all feminist view I could ever adopt.

if you are not a woman, you can't fight for women's rights. no matter how you deal the situation you are wrong.
if you decide to whistle at anybody who walks past in a skirt. you are objectifying women.(and are an asshole)
if you choose to not address the issue, you're completely ignoring issue.
if however you play the role of the white knight jumping to women's aid, you are putting women in an inferior position, by assuming that you as a male need to defend women's rights... you're betraying feminism.

in other words no matter what route we take this, men are only gonna lose, so just sit back apologise, don't be an arse. and for god's sake put that thing away!

also be careful of what sources you quote for data, psychological research is very heavily susceptible to being ruined by the researchers own preconceptions.

It comes down to if a person is mature enough to look at a nekkid woman. Can they see & enjoy the beauty w/discipline within themselves, or does 'teh' sex completely overpower their will?

That being said, I got no problem w/Playboy doing specials on video games. Playboy has never forced women to do anything, but rather Hugh Hefner has done alot to make sure the girls know they're worth more than what pimps, other adult magazines, and many Hollywood decision makers try to make them so. And Playboy is a multidimensional magazine (w/its other dimensions constantly overshadowed by the women pictorials, of course!).

What's more, while I've never played The Witcher, I heard that as you roleplay Geralt, it's your option to have him bang the women he meets or not - much like the choices you have in some instances in the Baldur's Gate series; the situation is simply ALOT more prevalent in The Witcher, unto it being a staple of that game (and the graphics are 3D as opposed to 2D in the BG series). W/that in mind, it is disheartening to see The Witcher use the sex appeal to sell their game. It makes me reluctantly relate the game to pop music.

That all being said, I don't plan on playing The Witcher one or two, not for anything I've addressed in my post or what has been discussed already (I've only read the 1st page of this thread), but simply b/c I prefer party-based cRPG's wherein I control 2-6 characters instead of going solo like in The Witcher, Elder Scrolls, etc.
