The Witcher 2 Premium Edition is excellent value for money, but I have recently become unemployed and cannot get the game on May 17th.

My question, having heard that the Premium Edition will only be on sales for a certain period of time, I wonder what that time period is, so I can save up?

The discounted price + free RPG package should only be for a limited time (and only if you push the pre-order button before May 17th. I've heard end of May-ish). The game itself should be permanently available here, since I haven't heard anything suggesting otherwise.
According to the FAQ, the -10% offer will expire on Monday 16th of May, at 9:59 PM GMT, but the game itself will be included in GOG's catalogue, just like every other game on the service. It will be available for purchase for as long as GOG is around (which I should hope is a very, very long time still).

You could join The Epic Witcher 2 Countdown Competition and perhaps win a free preload of The Witcher 2 there. I promise I won't bite. ;)

Edit:
And indeed, sorry to hear you lost your job. :(

You can pre order the Premium Edition on gog between May 10th and May 17th John, but you can buy it (without the preorder bonuses and without beneffiting form the Pre Order discounted price) at any time after that as it will be permanently added to gog's catalogue.

Sorry to ear about your current job status.

Sorry - my bad everyone. I don't have the hard disk space for a 17GB download, so I was talking about at retail. It was at retail that they said the Premium Edition would be limited time. I had no doubt the Digital Download would stay forever - especially on this site.

I have a collection of over 1,000 games going back to the mid 80's, so first and foremost I want to get a retail edition.

Hence me asking GOG how long the Premium Edition will stay on sale at retail before reverting to normal packaging?

afaik the premium edition is the "normal" edition of TheWitcher, is the same in every country (except cuts in Australia) and will stay that way with that content. the only thing limited is the Witcher Collectors Edition featuring Geralt's head, they produce a limited amount of those and after they are gone from retail you will only find them on ebay, presumably with a higher prize.

good luck to you.

I hope you're right, so with due respect I would love to hear that from GOG! :)

Can I also thank you and everyone for their good wishes, I appreciate it. For he first time in my life I am thinking about electricity usage when I use the computer - quite depressing!
only way to be sure is to direct that question to the gog support then.
I hope they will answer :)
I got the information from the cdpr conference live stream where they talk about the different editions of TW2 (retail, digital).

Premium Edition = normal packaging. There is a Special Premium Edition in Poland, and it is limited (it comes with witchery notebook, pencil, some additional music etc.), but all of Premium Edition packages aren't limited for a certain period of time since it is standard edition for entire world (they plan to ship 1 million packages on day 1).

Yes, they call it the "premium edition" because it's much better than all other "normal editions" nowadays, there is no lesser one (unless you count the Digital Premium Edition since it contains no physical goodies but instead digital ones).
