StingingVelvet: "I am a Steam gamer"... welcome to PC gaming in 2014, folks.
Yup... We have three major platforms: Playstation, Xbox and Steam.

YER MAM!
my question is, if you bought it on here, why would you ever want it on steam?

I suppose the only thing I can really think of is if you want it in your steam to have it with your other games if that's your main platform? Yeah...... that's all I can come up with.

Probably because they signed up only because it's a lot cheaper to buy it on GOG right now?

FIre.Ace: i guys help me ... need help

if i buy The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition game on gog.com
is this game for steam ? i got key for steam ? or they email me steam key ?
need to buy this game guys pls help me

i am steam gamer ... i alwys play games on steam thats why....
*cringe* =(

Steam has brainwashed people.

1. Steam is just a distributor of games. In my opinion Steam is not a platform like a console or a pc.
2. Steam gives you permission to play games
3. GOG is also a distributor of games.
4. GOG gives you the game you bought as an installer.

Even then, why want it on steam?

Still not enough of a reason for me. lol
- The OP clearly stated they always (exclusively?) play their games on Steam.
- They were interested in The Witcher 2 but only in the form of a Steam key.
- Found through one of the deals' site that the cheapest offer at the moment is on GOG, but have no idea what GOG is nor are interested in finding out, only if they can get a Steam key for The Witcher 2.
- Without researching GOG, they signed up to ask if a purchase on GOG will net them a Steam key.

Read the OP again - they didn't purchase the game, they just want to know if purchasing it here gives them a Steam key for it. If it doesn't, they won't buy the game on GOG.

Hope it's clearer now.

I got that, Just the logic of "i'd rather have steam over gog" makes no sense. Considering drm free is pretty much apart of the front page of the site.

Not a lot of people know or care about the whole DRM thing. They just heard that the Witcher 2 is currently cheap here and since there are gazillions of Steam key resellers, what's one more?

Then if it were me, I'd just buy then leave it at that without worrying about steam. or of I had to desperately use steam, do that thing where you can launch the game with the steam client and be done with it.

Let's face it. Even people among us are "guilty" of wanting to have all games in one store. And let's not forget that the entry barrier for Steam is much lower than GOG.

Indeed on the people wanting one store thing, I personally don't care about it, but I see where some do. Though the entry barrier is debateable, you get free real games here just for signing up, steam it's usually crappy online games of some sort.
