Sirkenneloth: Why should it be realistic? :)
avatar
Gersen: Well that's the style they are going for, it's just that their engine is not very good for that.
It's based on the comic, though. The comic isn't comprised of photographs of actual people. I like the art style of this game, it has a very comic-book feel IMO with the dark outlines and watercolor-ish textures.

lugum: oh darn telltale stick to what you are good at. sam and max, monkey island.
cant they make a new indiana jones?
I have to agree there. Although I'm not against trying new things, when the game becomes a quicktime event fest or lacks any challenge you can count me out. I'll take my adventure games old-school please.

I hope Walking Dead isn't as braindead as Jurassic Park.

Sirkenneloth: Anyone excited? I preorder from Telltale Games. :)
avatar
Gersen: Not really excited, While I enjoyed several "older" Telltale games, Back to the Future was IMHO pretty bad, Jurassic Park was even worse so I don't really have high hope for Walking Dead. Not to mention that their engine works ok for catoonish character but not really up to par for more realistic ones.
I find their work to be mundane, self-defeating, and self-derivitive even. Not everything needs to be adapted. Read the comic, and for the love of god.if you like the comic, make a point NOT to buy the game, if you feed them they come back. Next up, the Lord of the Rings, with steam preorder hats!
Well, just watched a gameplay video and it seems absolutely awful, but then again I guess it's the same 'Telltale' style (I've never played any of their games)? Either you love it or you hate it?

And what is the point of having a criminal as the protagonists. Why on earth would anyone like to play as a criminal?
Yeah I cringed when i seen it... I do however enjoy the Walking Dead graphic comic thing and The TV show.

I watched trailer and there was info "only 5$ per episode". I was interested - for 5 bucks I can check this game. But then I found out that I can't buy just one episode. I have to buy a whole season and I won't even get all episodes right away... I will have to wait few months before I get rest of episodes.

It's kinda misleading advert... And whole selling model is kinda broken for me. Pay now for full game, but get it later in parts.

How is it misleading? It's 5 episodes for the season at a price of $25. That's $5 an episode.

The selling model is how valve wanted to do their half life episodes except these actually get released.

They advertise it like you can buy it for 5$, but you can't.

No, the firsts Telltale games were standard click and play adventure games, it's only since Jurassic Park that they switched to QTE fest.

Ask that to the 22 million who bought GTA4 :)

I quite like Telltale, but I felt let down after preordering the first season of Monkey Island and ending up not getting the preorder bonuses because the shipping costs ended up being utterly outrageous. I seem to recall the shipping as being around ~£20, may be a bit off with the exact figure but I remember weighing up the benefits of paying that much just for them to send something I've already played, vs spending the same amount to buy a/several new game(s). It would have worked out a better deal buying more things so I qualify for free shipping, but that in itself made me feel like it was just set up to milk international customers for more.

You could say it's my fault for not anticipating it/reading the small print, and you could be right, but I still felt betrayed and I won't preorder anything from them again on principle. With that said, I still want to play it, but I'll wait until it plummets in price.

Which trailer mentions this? All of the trailers i've seen only state 10% off in terms of pricing. I'd like to see some context to see if it was advertised like that.

There's a difference between playing an antagonist and a protagonist.
avatar
SimonG: Is this based on the Comics or the (imo) dissapointing TV show?
avatar
Sirkenneloth: Comic
Nothing. It's actually a prequel. We will see Glenn before he joined the group.

It's not a big deal, but it did get my attention because of 5$ price point. When I found out that it's actually 25$ I lost my interests.

hmm, yes i'll have to concede that, it only states for $5 per episode. I may have to poke them about it on their forums :P

EDIT: Apparently it IS available for $5 per episode, but only on PSN.
