I want to see The Ultima pack in GoG!

What you guys think?
I honestly doubt we'd see much of the Ultima Series due to the online game still packing quite a community. That said, my favorite was always Ultima VI - The False Prophet. A great game with a unique twist at the end and one of the few games where you did NOT have to actually slay a single monster beyond what attacked you in the wilds to win.
I knew very little about the Ultima series until Spoony's retrospective. Now that I actually know what it's all about I really want to try my hand at a couple of the titles in the series. I really love games by Origin and their level of quality and attention to detail is really apparant in these games. I'm not sure If I'd enjoy the first bunch of titles in the series but I do know that Ultima Underworld and Ultima VII are right up my alley.

GOG has been releasing RPGs so much lately that I groan everytime I see a new RPG on the front page. But if it was an Ultima title (or several Ultima titles) that showed up, I'd be genuinely excited.

And, I'm sorry to break this to you buddy, but it wont happen until EA signs an agreement with GOG. But you [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/bring_ultima_to_gog]get it [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/ultima_games]making these [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/ultima_2]threads.

I, most unfortunately, only played some of the Ultima series, so I decided to give watching the linked video a try. I seriously wonder how many people called the phone number to report their success on Akalabeth now. That was the spirit back in the days!
*imagines what would happen if you include a phone number to report success with a modern AAA release game*

Don' worry, if you sold your game in ziplock bags with a hand drawn photocopied manual, I doubt you'd get many calls either ;).
I'd love to play VII and give VIII another try... the ones before that might be too old for me, I don't know. It's hard for me to play RPGs from before I started playing RPGs, which was 1996 or so.

Make an exception for Eye of the Beholder. One of the best D&D games ever made.

I actually bought Lands of Lore (in a box, CD version) and the Might and Magic games (here on GOG) to see if I could get into that kind of FPP dungeon crawl RPG. Haven't given it a go yet though.

Lands of Lore is actually a great place to start in terms of FPP dungeon crawls. Amazing VGA art and pretty beginner-friendly straightforward gameplay. Love that game. Supported in ScummVM SVN now too.

LoL is more of an adventure games at times, a great mix of RPG elements, puzzle solving etc. It feels very light, compared to the Krondors and BaKs, which came around the time. Give it a try, Patrick Stewart is in it!:)

Anything that would make me reconsider using DOSBox?

Not really no, just less hassle, and more robust music options.

I kinda like the hassle.;)
I wonder about ScummVMs ability to utilize soundfonts, LoL in DosBOX runs pretty slow on good fonts. I'll investigate it someday, thanks for the tip. ;)
The way its going now, it seems that EA might actually be getting a vested interest in Ultima again, so there is always a chance we may see a Ultima pack, though knowing EA - doubtful to be on GOG.

I'd be willing to roll with a reasonably-priced 'EA Classics' store through EADM.
I really hope so, Magnus.
I'd love to give VI and VII another shot legally.
