Interesting and highly logical. +1 for your generosity and creativity.
The future is more appealing to me than the past.
Let's say the year 3000 and somehow I could imagine having fun as a delivery boy ;-)

In for any Cognition Ep.

Haven't played any of them, yet.
Thank you Thespian* for the giveaway and also a thanks to the donors ISC, lugum, Robette and Lemuria. I would like to enter for Total Annihilation: Commander Pack and Slam Bolt Scrappers.

I'd probably go back to the time when dinosaurs were alive. I was always fascinated by them ever since I was a kid and I would use the chance to see them first hand, even if I meet a premature demise in doing so.

triock: Not in, but thank you Thespian*, ISC, lugum and Robette.
I second and approve ^THIS^ message ;-p
The BUMP Machine
Mr Spock bump.
Temporal BUMP!

lugum: Apart from the lottery thing, i would go to the future. Don't know when though, perhaps not to far because who knows how long the earth will still be there. Maybe 1000 years later just to see what has changed.
Yeah, 1000 years in the future is my definition of "not too far", as well. :p

MadalinStroe: I hope you enjoy reading what follows, as much as I enjoyed weaving it.
I loved your story and how you overcomed my restrictions. :)

In fact, I though about adding more stuff to the OP while preparing the GA, like:
- the device is able to scanning temporal timelines and it'll prevent changes which could impact its own existence or the life of his/her temporary owner.
...or...
- you will be only an observer, the device will shield you and the timeline from each other.

But I decided that would limit the possibilities too much, taking away much of the fun. Now I'm glad of my decision, because this allowed me to enjoy your great story. :)

Spinorial: Still, I've always wondered how things would turn out if in 1944 Rommel had taken command and opened the western front. Lots of unforeseen, vastly different, consequences in that one. I'll want to flesh this out a bit further, but that's the main point of it.
Yeah, WWII is other of my favorite time periods, and the amount of bad decisions (or just random occurrences) that could have changed the course of the war if corrected is unbelievable. For example, just the other day, I learned the German Heinkel 178 (the world's first jet plane) flew at as early date as August 27, 1939. A malfunction prevented landing gear to retract itself and therefore the plane didn't reach all the speed it could develop. The consequence was German military observers were unimpressed and the development of jet planes didn't receive priority until much later (fortunately for the Allies).

JogsterXL: Lastly, I would want to go back to June 22, 1973. I chose this date because I never got to know my grandfather as he died before I was born. From what I have heard about him, he was a pretty cool guy, so I would want to go back to when he was a somewhat younger man, and visit him and possibly strike up a friendship. Also, it would be fun to see my mom, who would only be a kid at that time, and the things she was doing when she was younger.
A commendable use of the device (but maybe your mother didn't feel very pleased to be caught doing the same things about she reprimanded you when you were younger). ;)

mitsadoor: Hm..., very difficult decision. Should I go to the feature and see what mankind have became or should I go to the past and meet the great philosophers of ancient Greece or/and go to Egypt and see if the aliens build the pyramids?

Hm..., if I went to the future, it is possible that the mankind would be vanished and I will have 6 months to do nothing. If I went to the past, probably I could not communicate and I would be prisoned or killed.

Hm..., maybe I should do the same like Aniki said (post 33).

I can't decide I will leave it for the future...
So many possibilites, so little time... :D

benderz: I just came back in 1990. In September. In the city of Osaka (Japan). Why ? Capcom is based in Osaka, and September 1990 is six month before the release date of Street Fighter 2 (CPS).
I want to follow the dev team, looking how they worked on it, and enjoyed the game at the beginning. Yes, I'm a Street Fighter fan, for a very long time :-)
And wouldn't you prefer to travel to the future and learn about all the titles of the franchise that will be developed in years to come? (even playing them, if six months is enough for that) ;)

BranjoHello: I went to Scotland, exactly 716 years before present day, that is one day before battle of Stirling took place.
I found myself pledge my loyalty to William Wallace and enjoyed the bloody ride in First War of Scottish Independence.
No records on Scottish casualties but Andrew Moray (the co-leader of the Scottish forces), so I'll assume you returned safe and sound (no mutilations nor major wounds?) from that bloody battle. :D
