My dad is a business author (shameless plug here) and
something that he really pushes with the companies and managers he works with the is the power
of "Thank You."
In honor of that to enter this giveaway you need to post who you are going to write to (a spouse,
friend, sibling, teacher, co-worker, etc.) and what you are thanking them for (listening,
taking out the trash, putting in the extra mile, the positive influence they have had on your
life, help with your career, etc.)
The key to a good Thank You note is being timely and specific. Be specific in what you are thankful
for.
The note does not have to be long a couple of lines will do it. You can write a physical letter (way
cool) or an e-mail. You don't have to have sent the Thank You before you enter, but have it
planned out.
There are two prizes chosen by Random.org
Alpha Centauri
with the new Alien Crossfire expansion
and
Duke Nukem 3D
Thank you everyone here on GOG for being so giving. This holiday season was fantastic with the
spirit of giving and camaraderie. I love coming to this site to learn about new games, news,
cultures, and having my questions answered. I also love how mature the people are who visit the
site are. Thanks for making my holiday and everyday special.
Let me know if there are any questions. Good luck and be thankful!

*Giveaway ends Thursday evening*

Not in (just won A. Centauri :D), but thanks and +1. Also big THANK YOU to everyone in this great community, you people are awesome. :)
Dear Mr. Pritchard,

I know its been a while since we've spoken but I was thinking about you over the holidays. Can't say it enough but wanted to thank you again for taking a chance on me all those years ago when I was looking for a job while in college. I'm going strong 9 years later thanks to your mentoring and teaching. So thanks and hope all is well with you.

Take care,
"teshra" :)

Edit: Got caught up in the letter that I forgot to mention SMAC. Thanks!

What a great idea this is! A close friend has assisted me several times in the last year or so with health related issues and while I've thanked them I think this would be a good time and way of expressing it in a more detailed manner. In fact, soon as I submit this I'm writing an email to them as they could probably use the gratitude right now as they're going through a bit of difficulty at the moment as well. Probably a good time to write several such letters in fact, I know a few people who would really appreciate it for the good deeds they've done.

As for the contest, I'd like to enter for Alpha Centauri.

Additionally, I'd like to thank you for the great idea and for holding the giveaway as well!
Great idea! I think I'm going to write to my vet that took such great care of my dog when he had a small stroke last week. I wanted to say thanks anyway, but a letter or card might add that extra special something :)

I'm in for Alpha Centauri.
"Dear mom,
Thank you for waking up last night to change the little one when I was so tired."

I'll tell this in person when I'll get home.

btw, I'm in for Alpha Centauri as I already own the Duke.
ps: thank you for this giveaway.

Thank you all who have worked to bring Initiative-522 forward. i imagine it was quite alot of work. i am appreciative of the time and energy that each one of you has invested in this, on our communal behalf. And thank you all who petitioned for I-522. Now we vote !
I'd love to join for Alpha Centauri!

Recently I have had some difficulties with research work, but my advisor has been very supportive in helping me restructure my efforts and figure out better plans. When I finish my work with him (hopefully soon) I will be sending him a thank you note for all his help and patience.

Dear Professor ------,

Thank you for pushing me and challenging me to think more deeply about my research. It helped me to better organize my efforts and think about both short and long term goals, and better plan my efforts rather than just doing things to "stay busy". In the long run I can be more open-minded in the beginning of a project, allowing me to see other possibilities instead of focusing narrowly on one issue or task. Your guidance has assisted me in coming up with more ideas and being more receptive to change and failure, which are necessary when doing research as few things ever go as planned. I have learned that being adaptable is the most critical asset that, as a young researcher, I can learn and keep with me as I grow older.

Sincerely,
- mondo84
Dear Mr. Elton,

I want to thank you for being so generous and for giving away games, being Alpha Centauri a game that I really want.
I also want to thank you for being a good person. I still remember when I couldn't open the pickle jar, but you did it for me.

Have a nice day,
Dovahcore

I'm in for Alpha Centauri BTW.
I was going to post a joke that was in very bad taste but though better of ruining a nice topic with my shite.
Not in, but....

Dear Amy,

Thank you for putting up with me and being a wonderful mother to our boys. I would kill for you. Please ask me to kill for you.

Love,

Homer
