reaver894: I talked her through how to use canirunit.com. (i know its that bad)

The CPU passes?

but it fails on the graphics, it has enough ram and the pixel shader is ok.

ATI Radeon Xpress Series apparently doesnt hit the minimum.

I know not to put much stock in that site but is it going to be an issue really?

Is it worth "Aquiring" a copy through other means to try it?
No demo out for it?

Only a video demo that im aware of.

I thought id ask EA support but its supposedly loading the page for 3 mins, i tried refreshing it and it did the same so ill give it a few mins

EA's support man say (ive corrected his spelling.)

ea: Hi, my name is Jeremy. How may I help you?
me: Hi, am wondering if an ATI Radeon Xpress series chip will run the sims medieval can find an answer online
me: 810mg ram if that helps
ea: Hi
ea: Please wait for few moments while I come up with something useful for you.
me: no problem
ea: Please follow this link: http://support.ea.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4970/kw/Sims%20Medieval%20systemk%20requirements
me that doesnt really answer the question, the min spec was the first thing I looked for: Unsupported Video Cards
-----------------------

Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn’t listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues, or cause the game to not run at all..
me: is a very wide explanation
me: sorry were you refering to this bit? :Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants may default to settings that are higher than what would be optimal for them. Graphics settings can be lowered to improve performance.
ea: May, I know the Graphic card you are using?
File attachment upload has started.
The file hazels dxdirag.txt (29.21KB) was received.
me: heres the dxdiag of the laptop that its for
ea: Thank you for providing me the information. Please stay online while I look into your issue.
me: thank you.
ea: You can run the game fine on this configuration.
me: thats great, Thank you, ill advise my partner to start with lower graphics settings and tweak it till it as good as itll run. Thanks again.
ea: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
me: not today thankyou.

Well against my advice shes installing it and asked me to find a guide book for it.... I forwarded her this I assume its a typo but it should change her mind about cheating.

Edit, EA man say it ok, just wish she'd have waited till I could get an answer from the horses mouth BEFORE she installed it, stupid rules about returning software.

I should think she'll be alright with playing it. I currently have it installed on a laptop bought relatively recently that just has one of the Intel chipsets built into it. It did act really wonky when I first started playing it but basically like the EA person said, turning the graphic options down should make it run perfectly. :)
I'm so glad I broke free of my addiction to these games. I never actually enjoyed them, they just get you addicted with the promise of "If you just do this bit more the fun will then start..." but it never does...until you burn them! >:)

When I first played the Sims 1 with my sister ages ago I always had a lot of fun putting them in a pool and then taking the ladder away. I'm not sure if Will Wright intended to bring out the sadist in us but I'd say it worked that way. ;)

Medieval is a bit different from the rest, I haven't quite found hilarious ways to kill my Sims, especially since they took out most of the needs and just have "hunger" and "energy" right now. I basically can't attempt to burn the castle down by having someone cooking impaired trying to make a grilled cheese sandwich anymore. Ho hum...

So if you can't kill them in humorous ways what are you meant to do with them? ;)

I remember when I got hit by one of the (many) gamebreaking bugs of the nanny never leaving with another nanny turning up every time you load a game (so your house ended up filled with them), I tried to 'solve' the issue by sticking them in a room and sealing it off. The sounds of starving, sleepy, bad-smelling nannies peeing themselves echoed throughout the lot...

Nanny death room sounds absolutely hilarious! XP I remember I wanted to see how long it would take a pair of Sims to starve to death so I made a father and son, only gave them a wall and a telephone and just passed the time as they slowly deteriorated. Their only real contacts were the mailperson, paperboy and anyone that walked by on the street. The dad ended up peeing himself and curling up in the street to die. It probably shouldn't be as funny as it is to me...

I had some friends who created seven women and one child called Pimp Daddy and then got bored and so wanted to see if they could kill them all, including the kid before the social services lady taking him away before he died. Sealed them up in a room with a giant window in the side so that people could watch them die as an 'example' to the other sims.

My family of Addams family rip-offs needed zombie servants, and so I moved in a bunch of annoying characters and sealed them in a room filled with the cheapest furniture I could find and one flame jet, which I turned on... Friday had her new staff...

Considering that both times large windows were installed so that other sims could 'see in' I can only conclude that these games do foster a 'tyrannical overlord' mindset within the player, particularly when the damn sim doesn't go to the toilet when told! >.<
