I don't understand why so many good services have the crappiest search algorithms. GOG still tries to play it off as "we're indie" even though it's like a big kid who's still wearing diapers. That might be able to last just a little bit longer until they and others realize that it's time for the big boy pants/undies.

But on Amazon they don't have any excuses. It's just...ouch bad. Shouldn't they be paying their web guys millions? You'd expect a better job like Newegg or even Tigerdirect. It doesn't make sense that the biggest and baddest one is also the one who's behind on certain areas.
Of course it's sentient, we wouldn't insult it all the time if it couldn't understand us.

Amazon is a really good service, but learning about them from a business perspective leaves one with a bad taste in their mouth. Frankly, I'm a little surprised nobody actively tries to ruin them.

They could find the time to grey out the site, but not to add a default sort by last post date...
The forum search function on GoG is amazingly bad, the title search just surprisingly so ;)
Apparently I'm sentient too, so that's not saying much...

Nirth: MaGOG
I may be missing something, but how exactly does MaGog help with forum searches?

Admittedly, a pineapple posted in this thread, so you have a point.

"OMG, I insulted the search function, and now I think it's coming after me!"

"Don't worry, it won't find you."

Just sorting the search results would probably solve the most serious problem with finding things using it. (Well, maybe number of words then date.) I can't believe it's that hard.

That really cracked me up.
