Creepy old rock band from way back - had two games made featuring their music and ideas:

Bad Day at the Midway

and

Freakshow

I actually owned Bad Day years ago.

Was looking this stuff up yesterday and Warner Bro.s has laid claim to it saying that they were going to update and re-release the games but I think that was quite some time ago.

Anyone else know much about this?
I guess this band is really obscure. XD
You meaning this lot?

If so then Frak me, they're a busy bunch!
The Residents are a really cool band, kudos for bringing them up.

I've never even heard of there being Residents games. I sure would pick them up if they appeared here some day. It would be sweet, but somehow I doubt that it's first priority stuff at the Warner Bros hq... We can always hope.

Is the game good? Because I love their music for sure!

Going by your avi it appears you know who David Lynch is.

Their games a very much David Lynch-like.

But they're not so much of a game as they are disturbing interactive settings that you can move around in experiencing their music and ideas.

I just heard about Freak show but had, at one point, Bad Day at the Midway and it was friggin' wierd - you're basically walking around a carnival, after hours, filled with psychotic people and trying to explore as much as you can without getting killed.

Yup, that's them. I actually only ever found one of their albums and it was years back in a massive CD junk shop in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

They're a bit difficult to find like Carter: The Unstoppable Sex Machine.

If you Google search 'DOS' and 'Underdogs' you'll find a site that specializes in documenting old PC titles complete with background info and history. I should warn that they are considered an 'abandon ware' site but even if you're opposed, it's a great source for information as to what games have been purchased and are getting remade and if they're being sold, they'll usually direct you to whoever is selling them (they have a lot of links to GoG there, that's how I found out that GoG existed.).

Despite the site being a tad controversial, it's clean and professionally done and managed and focuses mostly on being a reference encyclopedia for old games from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's.
Everything the Residents do is bizarre. But nothing is more bizarre and surreal than the time they appeared with Conway Twitty on national TV. It's on youtube.

Yes, I'm familiar with HOTU and it truly is a terrific online encyclopedia of old PC games.

I checked out the page for Bad Day at the Midway and it had a note at the end saying: "We have been informed by Hardy Fox of Cryptic Corp. that the copyrights of The Residents CD-ROMs now lie with Cryptic Corp. and Warner Bros, who are under discussions to release updated version of their classics." So yeah, maybe it'll happen someday. Probably not very soon, though.

And I just found out that Dave McKean worked on the game, which makes it even more interesting.
