While it's not strictly a "Kung-Fu" movie, I can enthusiastically recommend Forbidden Kingdom. It is a fantastic movie, in my opinion, and it is based on one of my favourite stories Journey to the West. It stars Jet Li and Jackie Chan, and I find how they play off of each other in the film is clever, and entertaining.

Another I am fond of (that hasn't been mentioned already), is the live action film adaptation of Saiyuki (Journey to the West), which is also part of the remake of the series based off of the stories called Monkey (Monkey Magic), which is full of wit, humour, imagination, and really fantastic fight scenes.

I would also like to recommend Kamen Rider: The First and Kamen Rider: The Next, which while super hero stories, feature some fantastic fight scenes, and keep the spirit of Kung Fu movies quiet well. With the first having a theme of science fiction, and the second blending some horror into the mix. :)

I actually remember seeing Forbidden Kingdom at the movies. Love that movie, very good.
Man I love me some Kamen Rider. I'm pretty big on Tokusatsu kind of stuff in general now. I'm watching Kamen Rider Fourze right now as well as the new super sentai Kyoryuger.

Never really had interest in the Kamen Rider movies though, always found myself watching to watch the shows more.

Ah a fellow Toku fan, awesome. I am a huge Kamen Rider fan, in fact I pre-ordered Kamen Rider Battride War for PS3. I was not overly fond of Fourze, though I still own the complete series, and movies in my Kamen Rider collection. I am more fond of Faiz, Kabuto, Kiva, Den-O, Decade, W, OOO, and Wizard. I like Heisei and Showa.

The movies are a good way to learn (slightly altered) stories from the Showa era Riders (well some of them).

No worries, I grew up watching a lot of Tokusatsu, though much of it was unsubbed, so I had to have a friend translate for me. That is a good way to go about it, OOO is worth watching and has a killer theme song. W is great if you like detective themes. Kamen Rider Black and Black RX are good to dip your toes into Showa era, or even Kamen Rider 1. I love practical effects as well, it's one of my favourite part of classic cinema.

Will do, it looks fantastic, and I would have got the TV version but it was 130 bucks, vs 82.03 on play-asia for it. All it provides is intro/outro song sound mixer or something to that extent. Yeah I like the fact you can use the Rider Machines in it. I HIGHLY recommend getting Kamen Rider Climax Heroes games for PSP, if you can. Though I can almost recommend this game just on the gameplay footage that I've looked up. So, here's hoping it's as good as it looks.

In that order :

1) Kung Fu Hustle, as said (if only one ever then that one)

2) Woochi (aka Jeon Woochi the Taoist Wizard)

3) The classic Hidden crouching dragon tiger hero flying daggers house thingies.

4) Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame is also a bit amusing.

I still rewatch Shaolin Soccer regularly :3 Kung Fu Hustle too but less often :)

also Invisible Target, and one that really surprised me with how good it was, while not strictly a martial arts film, was The Man From Nowhere

...and since nobody mentioned it either Huò Yuánjiǎ (or Fearless)

Go for Ip Man and Fearless (the director's cut, because the western theatrical version is 40 minutes shorter and dumbed down)

For a serious movie: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is my favourite. Touching, romantic and great fight scened. But Hero is also good.

For a comedy: Kung Fu Hustle.

If it's mainly for the fighting, the Jet Li movies (like The One) are quite good and if you like slapstick: anything with Jackie Chan, basically.
