It has at least one thing going for it: they skipped that annoying action movie technique of filming everything in the dark. Man, I hate that crap.
Nice trailer. Going to keep my eyes on that one :).Only problem is.Did they show all the good bits in the trailer?. Seems to be quite a lot...

The various reviews and testimonials I've seen on the net seem to indicate that the trailer doesn't do the movie justice.

It's a lot by hollywood standards but if you consider how much action was in some of the old hong kong flicks ( Hard boiled, The Killer, Drunken Master etc etc.) it's probably reasonable.

If its anything like HardBoiled ill be right into it lol
The film has some incredible hype going for it and garnered lots of positive reviews. I'm happy a hard R version is being released, but I seriously hope they distribute it in English cinemas as well.

From what I've seen and heard so far, it pretty much revitalises the action genre. I'm most definitely keeping an eye on it.

EDIT; Reviews are coming in http://www.metacritic.com/movie/the-raid-redemption/critic-reviews

Dunno if revitalise is the right word... action has never really died. Just been asleep for a while lol. Im surprised critics so positive - they usually 'bash' action films :)

Sorry i mean a review said there's a sequel in the works..

Saw a preview for this last year and was waiting for it finally hit here. Please tell me they didn't dub it.

Yeah Ebert is just about the only major critic that actually likes action movies. Most reviewers take a star right off the top just for being in the genre, which is insane to me.
Wow... I am in Indonesia, and I do not/have not watched this. Didn't even know about this either until you post about it here :-)

lol, In order to prove you complety and utterly wrong, Ebert is the only critic who trashed this movie: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120321/REVIEWS/120329993

He says its essentially like watching a videogame. I guess no one here will find that to be a problem...
Doesn't look to bad I would watch it

Oh right, I thought this was going to be a thread about a film version of classic C64 game 'Raid Over Moscow' which was aka 'Raid' to avoid insulting the Ruskies sometimes
Just saw the movie today. Very good martial arts film! Highly recommended.

I think it was overhyped however. It wasn't constant action like all the reviewers seem to claim. It had about 6 very good fight scenes and kind of slowed down in between (but not too much)

It's good but I don't think it's one of the greatest action movies as some claim. Still doesn't have as much fighting as Drunken master or Fist of Legend.

The portrayal of indonesian martial art "Silat" is cool because it actually looks like these guys are fighting and trying to kill each other, as opposed to the "dancing" in some other movies. It isn't quite as interesting to watch though.

Despite all I've just said, if you have any interest in martial arts film you must watch this!
