I bought the new Syndicate today, 'cause I like the way it looks, and we could always use more Cyberpunk. So I get Origin, install it, blah blah blah. Find out that it installs into Program Files. Fuck. So I uninstall it, set the install path the c:/games, and download the damn thing, again.
I also own the original Syndicate from here. As it turns out, through doing this, I managed to merge the two folders together. I'm guessing it should be easy enough to de-couple the folders (half of them are labelled as having last been changed in 1993) assuming there's not some weird-ass thing with Origin going on, but man. I kinda didn't expect that.

Ouch! I remember having some sort of installation problems with the New Syndicate after I installed the gog one.

As far as I understand Origin, you could have just moved the installation folder to a new place and then, "deleted" and re-installed it trough Origin, pointing out to the place where you did put the game files.

But I'd suggest you copy and pasting the files instead of moving, just in case.

As for installing both games in the same folder... maybe if you uninstall the gog one it will not fuck up the new one. I can't even imagine why it would fuck up the new one, actually (besides eventual registry problems, but these ones Origin can solve easily).

This is a nice system everybody should use. Works in video, music, backups, too!

Of course, maintaining it gets a little too OCD sometimes, but hey! Can't have everything! :P

Glad to see I'm not the only one who does this. Don't have any 'big' games installed since it's a crappy laptop, so these main folders are all I need.

Maybe on a fresh install I shall use a similar system. I didn't give it too much thought on my return to Windows after an eight-year hiatus. So everything got dumped into Program Files, and, yes, it's gotten to be a bit of a long-winded mess. By the time I figured out it might have been better to do it the way you guys are approaching it, it was a little too late. Reorganizing my file system now would be a major pain for me at this point.

In Syndicate Wars we called your kind "the unguided" before gunning them down :D

I have a similar setup myself. Better organized, easier to find and you avoid the pesky UAC-issues in Vista/Win7 somewhat.

I'm playing with the gamepad for exactly that reason. Mouse just feels weird.

So, don't mean to ask a dumb question, but what's wrong with installing into C:\Program Files? Don't GOG's own installers do that?

Like I said you avoid UAC-issues in Vista/Win7 that's default in program files/x86. Also, it's probably easier to find your games knowing they are all at ?:\games.. :)
