MikeMaximus: Wow I didn't know you could buy unlocks on the auction house. That is pretty cool. I'm re-installing it now cause i feel like playing it again. I forgot how ungodly huge this game is to download...

StingingVelvet: Yeah there's a special category for them even, "unlocks." I guess if people are buying items with real money to sell for in-game money then EA is happy to take the cash.
For sure. I don't mind when F2P games allow players to sell cash store items, since usually there is enough people doing it to drive the in-game currency costs down to a reasonable level. I wish Guild Wars 2 allowed players to sell gem store items and unlocks since they are all ridiculously overpriced in my opinion. I've been playing that game casually for months and still don't have enough in-game currency to buy one bank tab or extra character slot.

I might get Guild Wars 2 after I get bored of TOR and try it out. I like exploring MMO worlds and leveling to the cap, I just always hated paying a sub to do so. The free to play thing, despite some annoyances, makes me want to try them all out.

I still hate that one day they shut down and I can't play them anymore, though. This is especially sucky with TOR, since there is a lot of good Star Wars fiction in there.

Hopefully unofficial servers can keep some of these games alive after they are shut down, but with the legal issues and the sheer complexity of the games and the work that would be involved I think the chances of that may be slim to none.

If you enjoy a solo focus you should like Guild Wars 2, it has a ton of pve & story content. The "living story' events that keep going on are well done most of the time. The event system allows you to just jump in with others for events happening around your area with equal rewards without the messy "Can I join your grp/raid?" business. Even resource nodes are all shared so you can gather and craft without worrying about bots taking everything. The player level scaling system ensures that no one is insanely overpowered for a zone. Aside from the money grubbing gem store I have nearly zero complaints about the game, I even like the PVP which I despise in almost every other MMO.

I've always wished they could release some kind of patch that makes them work without servers when they shut down, but I know that's surely insanely more complicated than I realize.

That's a good idea too and It would be some work that's for sure. It may be even worth the development cost for a game like TOR because of it's mass appeal and they could continue selling it as single player for a long long time. Ugh I forgot that most unlocks in this are character based, that's another reason I subscribed back then. I like me my alts and account wide unlocks would cost a fortune.

The hide helmet thing I got applied to all my characters.

And you got that for 100k? Wow my server must suck. There's no hide helmet or unify color unlocks posted at all, and the character only unlocks just for titles are 100k.

I hope that BioWare will allow private servers once they stop supporting the game but knowing these companies, the chances of that happening are almost zero.

It's such a story and solo focused game though, it would really be a crime if it all went away permanently.

The only game I know that doesn't clamp down on this is WoW. I suppose the existence of those private servers hasn't really hurt WoW.
So anyone of you interested in helping some utterly MMORPG Newbie to become a powerful Sith then?

It's my first MMORPG I play, I don't like multiplayer much - never liked it - so this is not only new to me but quite difficult to ask, as well.

The only reason I do this is because I like this community and thus I'm willing to change my attitude and asking whether you are willing to play together with me.

We couldn't play together because you would be on a Euro server. However, what I can tell you is you never have to play with anyone. Turn off the chat window, ignore group quests and play it like it's KotOR 3, it works fine that way. There is plenty of single person content for you to ignore group stuff and finish the story.

I've got an agent at level 45 and an inquisitor at level 15 and have never done a single group quest.

Yes we can - I think:
Blue Screen saying something about:
Begeren Colony
Jedi Convenant
Jung Ma
Prophecy of the Five
etc.

Not that I "need" to play multiplayer! (Check my other recent topic) It's just an experiment - I don't like multiplayer but that doesn't mean I can't change my mind and maybe enjoy it even.
So if you are interested, the Sith Warriors or Bounty hunters sounds interesting. If you care just tell me when you want to play and which server you are and which class so that we actually meet.

I don't even know my server. If you can wait I'll find out next time I play and let you know.
If you already have a character, the server name is the Name on Top of the Screen next to the words "SELECT CHARACTER"

Interesting how people don't know their servers, it was one of the most complicated choices I made in this game thus far.
Obviously, yes I can wait...
I'm going to die of old age one day, hopefully the servers will be put of their misery before that, but other than that, I suppose I could wait.
It's not that I'm bored, my backlog is huge but as I said, it's just a new experience I want to test.
