Servers meant to save every 30 mins or so now so worst case on a crash is you lose 30 mins work.

I'll jump in when I can, just crashes at the moment, but the Halloween update is just around the corner!

Is something wrong with the server? The spawn command just sends me to the buggy area near the underwater lava dome, and there's something wrong with one of the houses in the town.

Edit: There are many things that seems wrong. Signs are messed up, a tunnel was blocked. A griefer?

Edit 2: Part of the bridge has been destroyed :-(

Are there any backups of the map?

Been on single player, but sign-in servers under a lot of strain so multi is a bit borked.

The bits of hell I saw were mainly a mix of lava, fire, red dirt, mushrooms and mysterious yellow stuff that sounds like glass when you crack it.

Apparently Notch is gonna take a couple of days rest then work on SMP, which will be nice.

Oh, and torches are still working as usual (thankfully, since hell is quite dark despite the fires and lava)

Yeah he said he hadn't completed temp torches yet in the dev blog
