Okay, I see this is available for pre-order now and has a set release date. The hype machine seems to be chugging to life on all the usual channels.

I really, really don't want to get my hopes up for this game, given how bad Deus Ex 2 was, but I find myself hoping for it to be awesome anyway.

Interestingly, has anyone else noticed how much the lead designer looks like the protagonist? Same hair (style and color), same beard (trim and length), the crap around the protagonist's eyes actually looks like the glasses the lead dev wears. Crap like that actually makes me wonder about the egos of folks that work on these things.

Lol, that's about how the entire fanbase feels, right there.
I am still trying to figure out the pre-order for this mess in NA. Would love to grab the Augmented Edition. Originally it stated that only Gamestop pre-orders would be obtaining the Explosive Pack (extra mission), yet a recent press release made it sound as though all Augmented Editions would have it. However, I am not sure if the press release was referring to the European release, which does contain all content, or if this includes the NA release as well.

Bah. One of two games I am actually willing to pre-order in many many years (Witcher 2 is the other), and I cannot seem to make sense of it. Bugging devs on Twitter gets silence, and nobody on their forum knows. About to give up by this point.

Recently replayed the original though, and it is a spectacular game all around. It really does put modern RPG's to shame.

I'm looking at ordering the Augmented Edition as well, but I'm going to hold off until they clear up the confusion about the pre-order bonus packs. Considering the game doesn't come out until the end of August, I have time before I have to decide. :)
Might as well get this part out of the way, have they announced DRM?

I was wanting to wait until August as well, but part of me worries it will get a price hike as other PC games are getting lately. Their press release only stated the higher pricepoint, so I am thinking retailers simply haven't updated yet. Just my guess though.

If you buy from a retailer like Amazon I think the price won't get hiked. Gamers expect 50 dollar PC games and retailers with clout want to not mess with the equation, it seems.
From what we've been shown in gameplay videos so far there's no possibility of a valid comparison to IW. By the looks of things about the only thing they could bugger it up with is the DRM. Even the nasty consoletarded item highlighting can be turned off, apparently.

They do make the skills look epic. I wonder how they'll handle new skills that weren't available in the original, given that it's a prequel story.
I had my hopes up... but then noticed it was going to be on the Xbox as well.... now i just hope it is going to be a ok game with a good story.

But even then.. i dont think it is going to happen.

Remember, it was the original XBox that put all the crap restrictions on IW, especially if PC gets a texture pack upgrade (like with DA2, though not sure how great this looked in practice) it could be fine as a PC game.
I didn't mind Invisible Wars that much really, it was alright.
Not epic like the original of course, but decent enough.
This one though.. I'm scared it's going be a horribly generic (cover) shooter, like for example Homefront.
I do loves me some Deus Ex though, so I'm keeping my eye on this one.
I seem to remember reading the DRM being the lighter, newer Ubisoft one where you just need to activate it online once.
Now for the love of Pesci, please don't turn out to be a over-hyped piece of ....

Check their website.

The European and Aussie Augmented Editions include both preorder packs. Only the Americans (and, by extension, Canada) get screwed over with having to choose between one or the other. Who knows about us poor Middle to South Americans. :P

As much as I loved the original in many ways its depiction of the future was a joke. It's completely the right thing to do to tear that all down and start over. Which is what they've done, thankfully.

Normally I wouldn't say that about a game I'd rank as one of the best ever made, but it has to be said that as a bit of sci-fi Deus Ex was lacking in so many ways.
