bansama: Right click on a game and "Set Category" for it. Also, where it says "All Games", click on that and you can set it to show only installed games.

Do you know of any way of doing that faster? Last night I was categorizing several games, and it was rather annoying having to right click, set category, etc. for every single game.

It's a Valve product and they don't like to make things easy. So no, despite people asking since the start of Beta for them to make it easier, they haven't. You're going to have to do it for every single game one at a time =S
I don't really like it to be honest. They removed or replaced some things i really liked and are now a pain to get to and in the library I like some things in every option and I hate some thing in every option so there is at the moment not a single option i'm comfertable with. I don't know yet. It may improve...
So here's my problem:

as someone who never really uses the community features of steam, i'm wondering: what happens to all these achievements?
I've had a quick flick through all the pages of the client, and i can't see anywhere a list of the achievements i've earned.
I don't really care, but i thought the point of these things was to look cool and show up somewhere?

Try restarting it a few times.

They show on your Steam profile under the particular games stats (for example here is mine for TF2) and they can also be seen in-game when someone browses your profile.

Catshade: So here's my problem:

Delete some folders in the Steam directory. Not the steamapps one, obviously. But that should force it to update when you next run Steam. Either that or move out the steamapps folder then uninstall and reinstall Steam.

So they don't show up in one place? They're more for others to see than for me? Hmmm... interesting.

If you mouse over the Game Details view and look at individual games if the game has achievement support it will show it there.

Catshade: So here's my problem:

Delete "AppUpdateStats.blob" and "ClientRegistry.blob" located inside Steam's installation folder. ;)

jungletoad: I also don't like how uninstalled games aren't put in their own little section like before.

I was playing with the new Steam last night as I too wanted to display installed and uninstalled games in their own groups, and the good news is that you can!
It only works if you are viewing your games in list view, though. Then you can add in columns on the list view so that you have a column called Status (if it's not already there). Ordering by this column then puts the installed games (Ready to play) and the not installed games together.
The list view is like the old Steam client games list.

Thanks. That mostly does what I was hoping for. Mostly.
Thanks guys, It works now.
2 questions:
Did they get rid of Penny Arcade? There used to be a link to the comic no the front page.
Is there a dedicated section for game mods? They used to have one, but now I can't find it.
