I've played "Return to Mysterious Island" and its sister game "Journey to the Moon." I enjoyed Moon for its depiction of 19th century futurist technology and how it related to the novel (which I had previously read). I love Jules Verne. That was cool. Mysterious Island was a little less interesting to me. Walking around on a (not so mysterious) island. Both were largely based on food puzzles (over and over again), which got a little old, but the science fantasy atmosphere of Moon made the game enchanting. If a sequel comes out, I'll buy it. So far, however, I have not rushed out to buy Mysterious Island 2. I might.

Ah, looks like there might be a sequel after all, "Journey to the CENTER of the Moon" - and something about a Journey 3. I've seen MI2 all over the place but the Moon sequels have been kept below the radar (and I've looked). This is the first time I've come across them. *sigh*...My Visa card is gonna hate me.

Hmm, I don't know, Journey to the Center of the Moon looks like its the same game with an altered title, which I just remembered was Voyage: Journey to the Moon. I think they just retitled the same game. Anyone know?

Yeah, that sounds like the one I played. Wikipedia calls it an "interactive movie point and click". Totally forgot about that game even though I use that mousepad every day. :)

Glad to know there's more goodness to come in DS9:F. I recall while playing as Sisko that you would be aware that Kira or Worf was somewhere else in the complex (they were constantly updating you of their progress through a comm link).... like upstairs in the security wing, unlocking the security system so you could open the door in front of you. And then I remember thinking... "cool, I'll bet when I play as Kira, that will be ME upstairs unlocking the doors for Sisko!" It sounds like it'll be worth "saving" Kira for last when I play Worf next. Good times ahead...

So I guess still no moon sequels. Oh well.

Until recently, I pretty much only played casual games. I only played the lighter adventures, such as those by Cateia (<span class="bold">Hotel</span> and <span class="bold">The Legend of Crystal Valley</span>) and the casual adventures like <span class="bold">Dreamscapes: The Sandman</span> (I have a link to get it the CE directly from the developer for $5.99 if anyone wants it) and <span class="bold">Nightmare Adventures: Witch's Prison</span>, both of which were a lot of fun.

To be honest, I was intimidated, thinking I'd get stuck and have to start over >_< Since I broke through my little problem in November, I've played:

Good list. I've played Longest Journey, Vampyre Story, (love them both) and NiBiRu. NiBiRu wasn't too bad. it didn't engage me like some of the others, but I enjoyed it. All of my games are on disc. I never downloaded a game before last night (from gog, of course)!

Exactly. It was okay. I enjoyed it enough to finish it and it had some cool environments.

hscott, you should download Beneath a Steel Sky, and [url=http://www.gog.com/game/flight_of_the_amazon_queen]Flight of The Amazon Queen! They're some of the games you get for free when you join GOG, and all three are very good point and clicks, in my opinion. Sometimes GOG users dismiss the free games they got when they joined but they shouldn't. There are some very good games in there (you could also check Lure of the Temptress -- an early title by Revolution -- but I personally don't enjoy that one all that much, the story is interesting and the trademark Revolution humor is there, but the gameplay mechanics are just not very good). I personally suggest Dragonsphere, it was one of the first games I played on my own computer, way back when, and I absolutely love it, it may start slow and true to fantasy adventure clichés, but as soon as the game's... intro, I guess? stops and the game itself begins, you're in for a treat, as it flips the table on conventions and becomes another story entirely. Flight of the Amazon Queen is just fun. Lots and lots of fun. Witty dialogue with an all-over-the-place story involving whatever you can think of (dinosaurs, mad scientists, an airplane pilot, comic book collector archaeologists, zombies, amazons...) Beneath a Steel Sky shouldn't need any introduction.

The funny thing is that my 71 year old mother is a much bigger gamer than I am. I'm too busy and she's retired - so her shelves are packed with CD/DVD-ROM games and even floppy games going back to the early 90's - and she's played all of them (even before she was retired). Twenty years ago, I actually got interested in point and click adventure games playing some of hers. I search some of her shelves even now for some forgotten gems. But I actually don't get to play very often. I tend to look for certain titles of which I'm already a fan. But then I'll try some new ones by chance. NiBiRu is one I came across by chance. Broken Sword 3 is another one I picked up by chance, not realizing that it was a sequel to Circle of Blood, which I had played years prior...which I had, in turn, borrowed from my mom on a whim. Thus, I was hooked on Broken Sword.
In fact, I have already downloaded all four of them! They are some I have never played, so...now I will. Especially because they're free - and I'm so tight I squeak - so why not? :D
