Probably the best game Molyneux has made since he left Bullfrog. I've also wondered recently whether there's a chance this one will arrive on GOG one day. The fact that it has supposedly disappeared from Steam makes it appear that it's another really complicated case, though.
Great game, have both the original and expansion. Works out of the box on windows 7, not at all on Vista.
Hard to make a decent movie in it but possible, if they'd made a second one it would have been awesome.
I finally get to join all you oldies in saying I still have the boxed copy. I'm almost positive it would still run fine on win7, too. It was a fun game. Nothing special, but a blast if you had some time to kill.

And I'm just kidding about the oldies comment., so please don't kill me. I actually still have my original Myst and Oregon Trail 1e discs, as well. =)
Even though it was originally published by Activision I'm wondering if the rights are locked up with Microsoft now that they own Lionhead - I wonder that about the Black and White games and EA too

Yes games are removed from Steam sometimes, weirdly I had wishlisted SiN before it was removed and its still on my wishlist but now points to SiN Episodes - Episode 1 (there was never an episode 2, the company was bought by a casual gaming firm called Mumbo Jumbo who have no interest in the 'hardcore gaming' SiN titles)

This is also an opportunity to whine that, despite getting 1 and 3, there was no PC port of Fable 2 Waaaaa!
I have the original game and expansion. Was thinking I should re-install soon. The studio management part could be a bit silly at times because it seemed to recycle management genre cliches for no good reason (I have to plant trash cans around to make sure the lot stays clean? Cleanliness is good, but seriously I just want to manage a movie studio...), but it was neat to pick a low-down actor out of the line in front of the gates and shepherd that person to being the biggest star in the industry, and the actual filmmaking part was a lot of fun. From what I understand, the game did okay but Activision wanted it to be competition to The Sims (all that endless expansion pack money) and sales just didn't come close to that.
I also have the boxed sets of The Movies along with the expansion (which adds so many possibilities for action and effects scenes). I made a few short films on that. Didn't care much for the sim part of the game, just loved making those movies. Playing that in high school is what made me want to get a degree in video, which I did. I'm actually returning to The Movies to make an ongoing machinima series. It will have comedy similar to Red vs Blue, with a character to directly reference Caboose. I think everyone should get a chance to experience this game, even with all its quirks. I wish someone could mod a version to just edit movies without actually using the studio in the game.
I would love to see The Movies on GOG!
On a side note I wonder if Wet: The sexy empire ever comes to gog :)

That game actually had a rather difficult management side:)

Yupp, and interestingly in Europe it was rated 14+ while in the US it's AO. Puritan country :P
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know where I can download some sword props for the Movies game?
